London’s Tower Bridge is one of the world’s best known landmarks. As of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it’s also one of the brightest and most energy-efficient. Teams of lighting designers and electricians strung tens of thousands of power-saving LEDs along the bridge towers, suspension cables, and granite ledges. The new lighting system, which is using GE LEDs, cuts the landmark’s energy consumptions by 40 percent, and will stay in place for the next 25 years.
Why wait to see it? Win a trip to London now in a new GE photo and video contest. As a bonus, you can also win a complete lighting makeover for your home.
Here’s how you enter. Take a nighttime photo or video of your favorite home monument between now and August 12, tag it on Instagram or Viddy using the hashtag #GELights, and send it to GE’s ecomagination page on Facebook.
The contest will close on Sunday night, the same day as the Games. The public will have from now until August 19 to vote for their favorite photos and videos. Submissions with the most “like” votes win.
