GE begins work on “virtual human” project

November 21, 2008

GE Global Research is partnering with the U.S. Department of Defense to develop a “virtual human” to accelerate drug development in response to the threat of biological attacks. The “Biotic Man” project, as it’s affectionately referred to by our researchers, focuses on creating a physiologically based software model that could dramatically speed drug design and measure its response in the body long before standard clinical trials.

With the “virtual human” researchers will be able to test in a safer environment with better quantitative information, all without one prick of the needle.
