GE Energy just received its largest Jenbacher gas engines order in support of a major rural electrification initiative in Bangladesh. The order, from the Shahjibazar Power Company, is for 32 J620 GS Jenbacher engines and will help improve electricity in rural areas of the country that don’t have reliable transmission grids.

Jenbacher engines are known for their versatility and can run on either natural gas or a variety of other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, sewage gas, combustible industrial waste gases – to name a few) as well as special gas cases. What’s more impressive is that these gases often can come from sources of pure waste, like sewer sludge and cow manure.

Cow manure helping power towns and villages? Now that’s what I call waste to value.
