GE responds to Fox News’s smears
Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, accused GE of being under suspicion for providing materials that are used by terrorists to build roadside bombs to attack U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no truth to this irresponsible and maliciously false report. O’Reilly and Fox News have provided no facts and no evidence to support their outrageous claims. As we told Fox News prior to the broadcast, GE does not make the product in question nor does it do business with a company identified by Fox News as being involved in these alleged transactions.
Amazingly, O’Reilly admits that Fox News cannot confirm that GE is under suspicion yet makes the charge anyway. Read the full transcript.
Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network and this has influenced its coverage of GE. We usually do not respond to the misleading and inaccurate claims made on this program because very few people take them seriously, but tonight’s report took this smear campaign to a new low. GE is not going to let the reputation of a good company and its good people be smeared by this reckless attack by a television personality. O’Reilly and Fox News have knowingly and without foundation damaged the reputation of GE, its employees and shareholders.

GE Theater’s lost Zsa Zsa hit
The ‘Warbirds’ of Oshkosh

Tort law was invented for this purpose.
GE should counter by reporting that Fox news helps the Taliban by providing access to the Fox news satellite for a fee so the Taliban can communicate to other members via Satcom phone.
Actually I think the whole thing between the two of them is funny probably helps ratings and the stock price in some way.
Fox News and MSNBC are not in a heated rivalry. Fox blows them away in the ratings because they are simply toadies for the Obama administration. Also, a company that has to pay a 50 million dollar fine for cooking the books has damaged its own reputation.
It’s great to see GE publicly commenting (finally) on the baseless O’Reilly smear machine. I hope that, over time, GE’s reasoned, fact-based responses will speak more loudly than his shouting.
If we had any fortitude, someone from GE would offer to appear on the O’Reilly show and obliterate this man in an interview. If we’re as confident as we should be about the morality and reputation of this company, then we wouldn’t have anything to worry about when O’Reilly tries (as he always does) to attack and intimidate the adversary he’s interviewing. Look at what Obama was able to accomplish by going on the Factor during the election: It was a huge campaign/political risk, but he did it anyway, survived the interview, and I guarantee it helped him pick up mainstream conservative votes. Someone from the Corporate offices needs to step up to the plate and get somone on O’Reilly’s program. Offer 15 minutes of your time so O’Reilly can get his "gotcha" questions ready… then handle yourself with dignity and calm and recite facts, and make O’Reilly look like the idiot that he is when he inevitably resorts to his hatespeech and yelling in the face of reasoned argument. Clips of the interview will be all over the internet with the headline "O’Reilly makes "bloviating" (Aside: nice word of the day, O’Reilly, considering 95% of intelligent Americans know what it means already) fool of himself." I could go on his show tonight and, simply by having a functioning brain and an endless mental library of the hateful lies he has spewed about every conceiveable topic for Nielsen ratings, expose this man for the fraud he is.
GE has decided to go-all-in in a high stakes poker game by choosing its political side. The problem is they are doing it with shareowners money. I hate being a party to what GE is doing but as a shareowner I have no choice. Of course some wise guy will say sell your stocks. I owned these stocks when Immelt was playing in his sandbox and if he had not decimated the value of these stock I would most assuredly sell.
As a GE investor it would be in your best interest if they join up with the Government. Dont you think? That would hopefully mean guaranteed contracts etc.. and more money in the pocket.
If GE is shure of what it just said…"O’Reilly and Fox News have knowingly and without foundation damaged the reputation of GE, its employees and shareholders" and GE is shure that all O’Reilly says, i.e. GE kills soldiers, is a poluter, is a corrupt company, etc…Then GE should sue O’Reilly and Fox!!
By the way, a couple of years back O’Reilly settle a harassment lawsuit out of court.
My wife and I are long time GE stockholders.
We are very much disturbed by the very left slanted programming at MSNBC and think that GE would be better served if its broadcast policy was more balanced. As it is now, MSNBC discredits GE the reputation. However, we think CNBC, our financial channel is very high quality with very little or no politics involved – it does GE credit and is a pleasure to watch
As a GE Employee, I feel Jeff Immelt has done much more to damage the reputation of the Company and it’s employees by it’s association with MSNBC and the numerous transgressions in accounting and leverage at GE Capital that has to be backstopped by Government (taxpayer) guarantees. Employee morale is shot. Dysfunction reins. The legacy of the corporation is endlessly tarnished. Nothing that Bill O’Reilly says go touch the shareholder wealth that Jeff Immelt and MSNBC has wrought. A sad American tale from a Co. that at one time truly brought good things to life.
As a shareholder, I believe GE should sue Fox network. Just like the movie American Violet. If you fight back it will never happen again.
DFSS…Forget not what Jack’s disciplines and guidance’s for a global corporation continuity…No. 1 or loser…buy them out or beaten …anyone who could only laying blames without a strategic imagination plot is not suitable for entitlement …
I don’t care what Fox news says.
I let the evidence speak for itself. Look at MSNBC and NBC. The ratings are so poor. Look at GE Stock.
As a GE Share holder I have a simple question for the CEO: What are you doing to turn the company around?
I bought the shares at $25 thinking it is a good deal. It is now at 12+.
So stop doing these silly press releases and do some useful work to bring in revenue
I just hope Immelt reads these comments.
A lot of true statements.
Had he been running a Department in GE for the last 12 months…At this point, GE would offer him an early retirement package. So many bad deeds, so many poor results.
The latest thing on Iraq and Afghanistan
Any way the shareholders can start a class action lawsuit against Fox News and Bill O’Reilly after all they have done damage to the shareholders. Seems they have gone too far and a class action lawsuit would help, at least it would get what seems to be not so accurate reporting to stop.
Reporting has gone by the wayside and I see a lot of Cable News channels saying what they THINK instead of the FACTS the way it used to be. Maybe if they start being called out on it in the form of a class action lawsuit we can go back to the days of real news reporting instead of vendettas. IF Fox News and Bill O’Reilly are doing just that then we as shareholders should be able to stop it.
.
I thought the letter response was reasonable until GEclaimed that Fox was in a heated rivalry with MSNBC. On what planet does MSNBC even hope to compete with Fox News? MSNBC probably doesn’t pull in the same numbers of viewers over 24 hours that O’Reilley pulls in for one hour.
I watch the Bill O’Reilly show because I have seen that he is not on either political side but looks out for the truth. The only place you get the real truth is on FOX. I stoped watching the other stations, including local when they stopped reporting news and starting making it.
Who Do You ‘Trust ‘ G E or Mr. Bill O’Reilly???
I – For One – Will ‘Trust ‘ "The Great American"
Mr. Bill O’Reilly!!!
Did I read this right? MSNBC is in a "heated rivalry" with Fox News? Did someone really write this? That is not what the ratings show…not by a country mile.
If the Fox report is untrue, then Ge should take legal action, with FACTS as proof. If, on the other hand, Fox turns out to be right, then Immelt should tender his resignation immediately. But will he have the courage to do so?
Keep it up FOX!!!! Save U.S. from becoming a Socialist country!
Oh, I forgot to mention something.
I have heard from reliable sources that Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdock and others at FOX News belong to the American Nazi Party.
In the words of Bill O’Reilly, I CANNOT CONFIRM THIS, but this is what I’ve heard.
i have been watching mr. o for close to 6 years now and he has never never lied he has the best staff at Fox News working on this story. he has presented the facts and all GE has to do is come on the show and provide their evidence.
MSNBC-CNBC-NBC ratings in the tank, they don’t report news they broadcast propaganda for the left wing, GE stock worthless, GE on governmet welfare supported by my tax dollars, you people are living in a fantasy world.
Immelt should QUIT RIGHT NOW. He admittedly was doing business with Iran when they were supplying killers in Iraq. I dont think it’s a stretch the GE has be providing tech.
If GE’s board had an guts, they would have removed Immelt years ago. He has run you guys into the ground. What a shame.
Thats one way to respond to the "accusations." If what Fox News said isn’t true then why get so bent out of shape over it? I thought you were better than that?
Maybe Bill went a little too far when he was "surmising" GE was involved, but he did not state it as fact and we understood it that way. GE was not damaged by these statements. GE stands on its own by its own reputation, and the reputation is bad — really, really bad — even without O’Reilly. If you want him and others to stop tormenting you, then you need to straighten up your act.
If GE’s reputation is suffering, it is only because of Jeff Immelt’s collusion with the left-wing extremists at MSNBC to smear conservatives, Republicans, and even the American people as their network tries to pass off its attempts to push forward the agenda of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party while calling itself a news network. Wake up, America! Propaganda is not news!
"To be clear, the Factor is not accusing anyone of anything. We are just reporting what we believe to be true. But if any American company did send material to Corezing, again, a major Iranian partner, they must be investigated to the fullest extent. The lives and suffering of our brave military are at stake here."
It’s called investigative reporting, GE! Hello!!! Mr. O’Reilly has nothing against GE, Obama or the DNC. In fact, he’s invited the Pres, Mr. Gibbs AND GE to his show so they can address various issues. Of course they decline.
It’s easy to claim that FNC is "smearing" you, but to imply that MSNBC is even competing with Fox News – well that’s laughable.
BTW, GE, why don’t you inform the American People just HOW MUCH YOU STAND TO GAIN IF CAP & TRADE PASSES??? Hmmm…is that why the NBC network aired Michael Jackson special after MJ Special during the week that Cap & Trade was being debated?
Just admit that you’re in collusion with the White House and that NBC is spreading propaganda because you think the American Public is stupid.
Than at least you would be honest about all of it.
GE is searching for profit. That makes for desperate people. I hope to God GE is exonerated in any investigation, else the Board and Immelt should be held criminally liable for the deaths of American soldiers, sailors and Marines.
I am a fan of Bill, however I thought his accusation was out of place. He admits he has no evidence yet he makes the statement anyway. I think this was below Mr. O’Reilly. I’ll forgive him and watch his show anyway.
Who should I believe; the company that owns MSNBC or Bill O;Reilly?
Is GE serious with this statemeent? "We usually do not respond to the misleading and inaccurate claims made on this program because very few people take them seriously, but tonight’s report took this smear campaign to a new low. GE is not going to let the reputation of a good company and its good people be smeared by this reckless attack by a television personality." Fox blows MSNBC out of the water and aren’t Matthews and Olberman constantly smearing the people on FOX as well as it’s viewers? GE’s reputaion has been damaged since Jack Welch left and Immelt took over.
I must say, NBC News really does make GE look pretty bad in the eyes of the public. O’Reilly may or may not be right, but the GE/NBC connection raises eyebrows. Where there is smoke . . .
Ph, PUH-LEEZE! GE is about as guilty in this as they can be. NO AMOUNT of denying will save you here. Makes me think twice when I am at the store or purchasing any item made by GE.
GE use to bring good things to life. Now they bring death to American troops.
GE needs to clean up it’s act in the world. Dealings, indirect, with IRAN? Give me a break with your clean as the wind driven snow BS!
So sue if you’re so offended…oops I forgot truth is a valid defense !
Good points, GE, but I thought a heated rivalry was among near equals. While you make some great points, isn’t GE (MSNBC) getting its but kicked by Fox News? If Fox is spreading false info on the issue of ratings, you should call them on it.
Yes! By all means, someone from GE or MSNBC debate Bill O’Reilly. I’d love to see your CEO or some MSNBC fool publicly schooled by Bill O. in front of millions of viewers.
James W.
Seattle, WA
I sold all my shares as soon as I heard thie news on Bill O Reilly.
GE is the reason this country is failing. Bring your jobs home. Get OUT of the political arena. You should sell your "NEWS" affiliations ASAP. No ones cares anyway, you are the smear.
I will not buy anything, not even a light bulb with GE on it. I also won’t watch NBC. Please don’t try to convince people that you are innocent. No way!!!
Fox News has all other news stations beat hand down. At least they do have a Fair and Balance program, more than I can for the others. Pitiful, just pitiful what some news journalist have become.
Be careful GE. Your envy is showing. Fox News kicks butt while NBC & MSNBC – not so much. MSNBC has tanked in the ratings. Much like you are in the tank for the Obama administration. And your company is reprehensible for its business pratices. Do not act as though GE has never done business with Iran. Your hands are soiled with the blood of good Americans, fighting to protect your freedom to screw us over.
Stay strong GE, the Fox nuts, who are invading your comments page as we speak by proxy of Bill O’Reilly’s web site, are just mad because they are losing the political battle to MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, who is a Godsend to the world of cable news. He may not be winning on the ratings, but he’s winning on something far more valuable, HIS SUBSTANCE and HIS HONESTY. The real propaganda is RUPERT MURDOCH and FOX NEWS, not GE and MSNBC.
Instead of complaining about Fox News why doesn’t GE listen to what they have to say and consider the fact that they might be telling the truth.
GE and its actions have inspired me to contribute to the economy. I’m pitching every GE made product I own and replacing it with their competitors. Never again while Immelt or the rest of his lackeys occupy positions at GE will I purchase a GE product, use a GE service or own GE stock.
I watched Fox News and the report did not implicate GE in sending equipment to Iran even though you have in the past.
Grow up GE and clean up your act.
Fox News has a responsibility to report all the news, not pick and choose like your own NBC does. if G.E. has a problem with being reported as being under investigated,, then don’t make the product,, and don’t lie and say you don’t, we all know you. BTW, go ahead and tell barack hussein osama that i don’t support his health care screw up, he doesn’t scare me.
I’ve been screwed dozens of times by GE owned and operated companies, never by Bill O’Reilly. Bill has invited Imelt to his program, but he will not go. This, to me, speaks volumes.
Hah! a heated rivalry? really? Fox News is destroying msnbc in ratings right now. And DrBrian, they may not pay the bill for those services, but they DO pay for them in their taxes, and so do you.
Blame G.E.
GE should be ashamed of its practices. MSNBC is floundering, and GE is a corporation utilizing falsified financial statements in order to create a veil of credibility.
Deflection by focusing on Bill O’Reilly’s statements does you no good. The American people are waking up to the reality that MSNBC and GE are corrupt, biased, and sophomoric in their statements. What a massive waste of time.
GE is one to talk about smearing as they are using their media power to slam honest hard working Americans to protect the office that is lining GE’s pockets. As an American, dishonest Obama media is not allowed in my house nor any of GE’s products.
Bill O’Reilly usually has the facts…..why doesn’t GE explain what really has happened and let us judge! Clearly the relationship with MSNBC is suspicious at best!
If Immelt hadn’t denied selling equipment to Iran then done a 180 on it the next week, maybe this wouldn’t seem possible. I can’t sell my shares since they are in an investment partnership, but GE is no longer the company it was under Jack.
NBC and MSNBC are among the most corrupt "news" organizations out there. Even CNBC is getting hard to watch, particularly Bill Griffeth. And John Harwood is nothing but a mouthpiece for the Administraion.
If GE feels so stronge about Fox news being wrong,,then they should go on the Show and defend themselfs,if not,,then you must have something to hide?
Eisenhower warned against the "military industrial complex". I don’t think Fox News is part of that complex.
I have been standing by for years watching this company go downhill and I am sick of it. I have given everything to GE, been an A player my entire career here, and yet ever since Immelt took the helm, I have seen GE stock stay flat (until last year when it dropped to ridiculous lows). Our image is not driven by FOX news…it is driven by the choices Immelt has made.
Boo-Hoo, such a shame that a once great american company has subcumbed to the "winnies" of doom to the constituion.
God save America
Damaging GE’s reputation????? What reputation???? Such idiots.
Your statement "Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network" proves that you are not being truthful. A competition means that both sides are competing. Sorry but the rating numbers show that MSNBC aren’t even in the game. So with this being untrue, is any of your post true?
O’Reilly just commanded the wingnut brigade to come to this site and leave comments. Of course he also said (wink wink) to keep it polite (wink wink). Here comes teh paranoia, with a healthy dash of meanie…
Several months ago, at a financial loss, I sold my GE stock because I found the charges made against GE by Fox News to be true, and I could not stand to deal with Jeff Immelt any furhter. I had owned the stock for 15 years!!
I was in Iraq in 04&05. I heard that parts for roadside bombs had parts that were made by GE. To me this is old news, what is surprising is no one reported it to the news to get it out and what is surprising now is why is it coming out? And 4 plus years after I knew?
GE is NOT an American Company and Jeff Immelt needs to go to jail.
Cmon guys if you didnt see the piece you are uninformed all they said was they were possibly under investagation. Dont be so dumb. Baseless dumb propaganda is why even liberals and independants are going to Fox. They present all sides even though (as shown here) some sides arent popular.
My nephew is in the military. If I find out that GE has ANYTHING TO DO with selling to the enemy….Fox News is the only fair and balanced network who is reporting this information. Corruption is Immelt’s middle name. Bill O’Reilly is a good man, simple honest and forthright, just the opposite of Immelt.
Quote: "GE does not make the product in question nor does it do business with a company identified by Fox News as being involved in these alleged transactions."
Why limit its response to "the product in question" and "a company identified by Fox News"? Why not simply say that GE has no business connection with any "company" or "device" instrumental in killing US patriots.
On balance, Fox News and Bill O’Reilly have infinitely more credibility than do the pathetic goons responsible for GE’s fall from grace.
I am pretty sure that O’Reilly is reporting what the Factor has been told…that GE is under suspicion in this federal investigation. Maybe I do not know what smearing constitutes, but this sounds like basic reporting to me. On a side note, I attempt to never view MSNBC because of its incredibly liberal reporting (if you can even call it reporting).
"Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network" – Heated rivalry? Are you kidding? FOX commercials draw more viewers than the entire MSNBC liberal lineup. BWAAAA HAAAAAA
I do not respect GE and their news agencies, they are filtering news and are participating in propaganda. Report what happens on each side, not one over the other and then you’ll earn my respect.
Is this a corporation or Jeffery Immelts little soap box? GE is no longer a company that I believe in, and therefore no longer a company that I am willing to support.
There is no "heated rivalry" between MSNBC and Fox news, MSNBC is a white house mouthpiece and their miserable ratings prove that.
Fox news was not smearing your company- JEFFERY IMMELT is smearing your company.
I sold my GE stock last year and bought Ford…and now I am laughing all the way to the bank. Adios GE….its too bad so many hard working Americans have to call themselves employees of your horrible commie pinko left wing company.
FOX News is the only source for the truth. I watch FOX to stay informed. The bias of the mainstream media is disgusting. Why doesn’t GE go on The Factor? GE’s connection to Obama, the enormous spending in Washington, and the left-wing extremists speaks volumes.
This rivalry between FOX NEWS and NBC/MSNBC/GE is only going to keep FOX NEWS growing. THANKS JEFF!
MSNBC a rival of Fox News? Ha! I laugh in GE’s face!
GE come straight and talk back to the American People. If Imagination is at work, Come out and Work your Imagination and Maybe I’ll believe???
As a former GE customer, a Vietnam Veteran, and the father of a soldier currently serving in Afghanistan I want to tell you how disgusting you and NBC are these days. How in the hell did you, a Co. which has made Billions upon Billions over the years, now become a leftist-leaning, Obama-supporting, anti-American organization? It’s no wonder that your stocks are slipping in value … a great shame to the folks who were unfortunate enough to trust in your name. GE? Not me. Never again.
It is wide spread and well known that Fox is the ONLY news channel giving us the American people the truth. And the truth will always prevail. If there was no truth in Bill’s comments, why would such a large company such as GE care what he say’s? Why is it so hard to understand that, the more you attack the ones telling us the truth, The more you incriminate yourselves!
I think GE has bigger problems than Fox News. Fox News, including Bill O’Reilly, has been usually right in the past. Instead of being smeared, I think GE is ticked off that they were called out on their unethical business operations. GE is not a very good company and Immelt should tender his resignation immediately. God Bless America and Fox News.
Someone from the GE executive team needs to immediately go on the O’Reilly program and set the record straight.
well, since immelt is a proven liar about dealing with iran i don’t think its a stretch to believe there is more misconduct. it is obvious, however, that o’reilly intensly dislikes immelt, and i’m sure that is part of his motive. nobody smeared the good people who do the real hands on work of ge, only the dishonest executives like immelt.
GE & MSNBC is a euphemism for idiot. Wise up! If you watched the show you’d know that O’Reilly was extremely carful in his wording.
The best way I can tell GE what I think of them and their practices, is to divest myself of everthing possible, that has anything to do with GE. I sold my GE stock, won’t buy GE appliances, or watch any of their trash programing. Based on what I’ve seen, it would not surprise me if they were somehow, if not directly, responsible for these parts used to manufacture these explosive devices, or continue to do business with Iran. Immelt has no conscience and does not care about the country, its people or the consequences of his policies.
Fox is not a rival of MSNBC. There is no competition there at all. GE, you (your CEO) is a vial individual that supported Iran’s efforts. If you feel the accusations of Fox and O’Reilly are untrue, you have attorney’s, file a lawsuit for libel..I don’t think you will be doing that anytime soon.
I watch Fox because it does give both sides. It is amazing to me that it is wrong if moderates and conservatives are upset by what government is trying to do. No where in the Constitution does the federal government have the right to do the things that it does. The Constitution pretty much lists very few things that the federal government is allowed to do. Mostly provide for the common defense and interstate commerce.
I don’t know whether anything is going on with the investigation but from the looks of your bottom line and stock price that is the least of your problems. MSNBC only gives one side of a story. That is not a news organization that is a public relation firm.
I’m a part of what used to be known as the "Silent Majority"-I cant be silent and have the likes of the adminastration and companys such as yours destroy my country. Show the proof that you arent guilty of the charge, Bill oreilly is too good at his job to be wrong. And your company has too many debts owed to the Obama goverment plus your one sided news on MNBC-
For shame, show me I’m wrong, start standing up for the american people. Make God take mercy on your souls.
I feel that the response to the Fox News coverage is amusing. Mr. O’Reilly’s coverage was extremely fair. My question is a simple one. How does GE think that anyone will trust them when they operate a "news" organization that backs a candidate/president to spin coverage to fascilitate the support of legislation that will make GE rich? It is crazy to think that anyone will take their word at face value. There is a reason that msnbc is getting killed by Fox News. Fox News is a REAL news organization rather than a "love Obama no matter what he does" and a "lets do another program on how George W. Bush is to blame for everything bad in America" tv station.
GE is right to respond back to O’Reilly’s vague and unproven insinuations. O’Reilly was acting in a very irresponsible way with the report he aired last night. That he dares to occasionally refer to himself as a "journalist" is absurd and a slap in the face to those who do REAL journalism.
GE through its news shows badmouths concerned citizens who are exercising their constitutional rights. This is one "stupid" opponent of liberal policies who will not be purchasing GE products and who will continue to watch Fox news to get the straightest most honest news available. O’Reilly said this is what he thinks, NBC "reports" opinion based bias as facts. There in is the difference. O’Reilly gives his audience credit to judge for themselves.
If you have done nothing wrong why won’t your CEO appear on Fox and dispute the allegations- are you afraid of the questions you may be asked and not being coached well enough to answer? If these allegations are true hopefully the American public will boycott your products and services. I certainly will.
I cant wait till evidence proves GE’s involovement in the death of our soilders! I would seriously be shocked if it doesnt. Maybe if GE and NBC go down they will take Obama with them. Either way, bill o’reilly is a true American patriot and i trust his word over Immelts any day of the week. Just for the record, Bill did NOT accuse GE of anything! He simply reported that GE was being scrutinized on the issue…
I believe that if your company is proved to have helped the people that we are at war with, you should be charged with treason. I, for one, will never give you one red cent of my hard earned cash! You will reap just what you sow!
You have to be kidding me. If GE was in the clear they should send someone on the show to state their point. I am sure Bill would put any GE exec. on the show in a heartbeat. GE is in the pocket of the White House and for good reason.
I remember as a kid hearing on tv, the commercial of G.E. and the jingle…."G.E. we bring good things to life"
Well I’m all grown up and understand that G.E. is a huge polital company. It’s sad that this company has turned into this. I won’t be buying any G.E. items.
How can a company be behind Global warming and support a goverment starting a ban on incandecent bulbs with mercury filled ones?? Isn’t mercury dangerous?? Things that make you go HMMMM????
If anyone with at least 2 brain cells see this without them taking this down. Stop buying G.E. items. Stock up on whatever the gov’t tries to take away from you. Yes even bulbs that been around for over a 100 years.
I feel strongly that the relationship that GE has with the Obama administration, via Jeff Immelt’s advisory position, and MSNBC’s obvious shilling for the Obama administration is enough of a reason for consumers to question everything that GE does. The prior relationship that GE had with Iran is enough for me to question the ethics of GE in general. But this charge that Fox News makes is not out of the realm of possibility considering GE’s past and current conflicts of interest. GE Capital was bailed out by the government after GE Capital was accepted as a financial institution. My taxes paid for GE’s bailout and I have a right to question their ethics.
If there is not even a grain of truth in O’Reilly’s allegation, wouldn’t GE OWN Fox News? I suspect there is much beneath the surface that GE does not want aired.
Maybe if MSNBC was called out a whole lot more then with all the lawsuits you wouldnt have any stock left to sell! Imment will not sue because of his left-wing ties to Obama and MSNBC’s bogus reporting and leaning towards Obama and the Liberals in Congress! As far as rivalry between MSNBC and Fox, Immelt ought to be sued for false accusations!
SOMETIMES THE TRUTH HURTS
GE once represented what was right with American industry – be the best, produce great products, make a profit, reward the shareholders, be a great American icon. Now they pretend to do battle on TV news, pay fines to the SEC, invest in schemes that reduce the great GE Capital to a mere shadow of its former self, reduce profits, pander for political gains and degrade shareholder value.
You must be so proud.
GE You do something to change your reputation of being deceitful and dishonest and disgusting and I’ll believe you instead of O’Reilly. Because of your past you stand convicted without the benefit of doubt and without innocent til proven guilty.
If GE cannot find room to sue, then it must be true.
GE cannot deny it misrepresented its earnings this decade, so why not lie about anything else? After all, its CEO is on the Obama Economic Advisory board so friends in high places with two national media outlets can only help a cover-up. Right?
I cannot trust any release coming from GE. This is the same company that allows lies and smears 24 hours a day from MSNBC. How can I trust that they are telling the truth on this issue when they promote such lies on a daily basis? I trust what Bill O’Reilly says more than anything said by this company.
Do you really think a GE blog will get GE out of the gutter. Jeff should have been gone a long long time ago. I have eliminated all GE products from my home years ago. GE took sides and sleeps with the socialist.
I read the transcripts and GE needs to spend remaining funds they have to take Fox News to court. After they lose, the Obama Administration will take them over and spend more tax dollars to have their own Government TV. I can not wait to see 12-year-old children being used to tell the news. "Those mean signs" and "Obama is not a racist". Give me a break people. We are on the raod to destruction. GE and Pelosi, STOP insulting the American citizen!!! GB
I only watch Fox News. There I can get the truth. As a mother of a soldier in Iraq, my first thought is to boycott GE. That wouldn’t hurt GE it would hurt more of your employees. You have already hurt them enough with your business practices. Don’t you think it’s time to change your strategies? Perhaps Immelt should be retired to carry on his agenda on his own dimes instead of the stockholders,
I love these little discussions we have. They are so "enlightening." "GE brings good thing to life."
Or do they?
I will admonish each of you to "prove" your points with actual evidence.
GE – go on the Factor. Prove your point if it’s important to you. Or file a lawsuit. Or both!
Forget the playground taunting and finger-pointing.
If you can prove O’Reilly wrong, go for it. Sue him. Same for the others at Fox.
Too bad we can’t sue ABC, CBS and NBC, but butt-kissing is not really illegal.
Oh yea, don’t forget! If you need a job, check Craigslist for government employment.
I am an ex-GE employee and a Fox viewer. I can’t stand the slanted MSNBC ‘news’ coverage, but I am very disappointed in O’Reiley’s blatant attack on GE. It is an obvious attack on Obermann indirectly. The whole feud is between 2 enormous egos and leaves those of us who want some real news to find CNN. I recently found that Blitzer actually was interviewing Doctors and discussing the healtcare issue. A pax on both houses. As for the attack, I am waiting for OReiley to back up his charges or apologize to GE and the folks who listen in.
I wasn’t going to comment until I read that MSNBC was in a "heated rivalry" with Fox News. What a joke. MSNBC is a joke. Fox news is my sole source for news now. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s watching network news. In the 90’s I was a CNN junkie thanks to the Gulf War. It was the biased news reporting in the mid 90’s with President Clinton that pushed me to Fox News. I have also attempted to find out every product that GE produces and have vowed to not support any GE product with my money. GE is an American icon that has been destroyed by Jeff Immalt.
OK, NBC (and affiliates)have lost a great number of viewers to the gain of Fox – fact! Jeff Immelt, as the head of GE, has lost a great amount of net worth for GE and the shareholders of GE – fact! Now, to be raising such an issue is just stupid, which is the category I place Immelt – stupid.
I agree with someone above who stated if Jack was in there and Immelt performed like he is performing, well, it would be like a stewardess exiting an airplane – "buh bye!"
Now, Fox is the best at reporting and O’Reilly is the best of that network in being or presenting the most straightline unbiased reporting on ANY subject. In fact, even if he gets in a wad he always gives the presenting oposite view the last word. In my mind this is the very best situation, having this person state their side (if they can articulate) which in the "game" of mindshare should stick with people more than not.
Oh, Dr Brain – get a life.
If MSNBC ever wanted to compete with Fox News and Bill O’Riley GE would have to fire everyone form the mailroom up. Left wing radicals such as Mr. Immelt cannot see past the end of his nose thinking heis sooo much better than the average American. He may want to wake up and realize that it is the average American that pay his Bonus every year.
There isn’t anyone at G E smart enough to go on the Factor to debate O’Reilly.
You are in denial if you think we do not take O’Reilly and the whole Fox News Media seriously!
And Immelt is an economic advisor to Obama? This company along with MSNBC is so in the tank for Obama it is not even funny. MSNBC should just be renamed ONN – Obama News Network. Immelt has run the company nearly into the ground on so many fronts. And that G.E. stands to benefit so heavily from "green" avenues via Cap and Trade, wow, fishy. Sure, look out for the stockholders!! Don’t worry about the rest of America or what is good for the country. I’m PROUD to NOT own stock in this terrible company.
Believe me – there is NO rivalry bewteen Fox and MSNBC – Fox kicks the crud out of MSNBC all day long. If Fox went off the air for a month, it’s ratings would still trounce MSNBC’s buffoonery.
DrBrain – who pays for emergency services? WE DO. Are you that ignorant? My local tax dollars go to support our services where I live. MY TAX DOLLARS given and entrusted to whatever governmental level regulates. Not the FEDERALES.
Further for your edification, Bill BELIEVES in global warming. Perhaps if you actually knew anything or watched his show, you’d know that. You commenters don’t even WATCH the show. You all just need to pay attention TO ALL OF IT – so you can make up your own minds, don’t let Obama preach to you what you should know and believe – WHO ARE THE COOL-AID DRINKING ZOMBIES, HMMMM????
MSNBC is a joke. I used to watch it and will watch Morning Joe, on occasion, but find the rest of their reporters and commentators to be a bunch of sheep and shills for ultra left wing positions. They’re devoid of any objectivity and will ostracize anyone who does not see things in their warped view. The view that Foxnews is biased is very pervasive, however, were someone to actually watch O’Reilly, Hannity, or Greta will be shocked at how fair they are. Olbermann will never have someone with an opposing viewpoint. Maddow, while intelligent, loads her show with a bevy of sycophants. It’s really nauseating to view the ultra left try to denigrate the middle of the political spectrum.
GE has lost a substantial amount of credibility. Their news division has lost any glimmer of objectivity. The accounting scandel(which the shareholders will pay, not Immelt) makes it very difficult for GE to maintain their innocence. Interestingly, the letter above has the elements of libel, so it’s curious that they’d resort to this letter rather than filing suit.
It is sad that GE has not had the courage to debate any of the allegations OReilly has made except in a press release like this on a web site. If Immelt was worth his salt, then he would go on the Factor and take the issues on in front of America.
Give me a break GE. Emelt was appointed to what and by whom? This is why I sold your stock, won’t by your products and stopped watching your programmig.
I used to own GE stock. Immelt said on CNBC that the dividend was secure & a week later cut it in half! I sold. Their cable "news" channel MSNBC is a joke. The liberal idiots Ed, Olberman, Mathews & Madow are so far left & so full of hate that they are unwatchable & the ratings bear that out. Theres no doubt that Immelt is in bed with O’Bama. I hope you’re not furninshing materials to our enemies, but hope we eventually get the truth.
Ge has been questioned many times for twisting the truth regarding their methods of circumventing import/export laws and dealing through ’sub-contracting’ companies. Jeff Immelt’s arrogant avoidance of direct response to any accusations leveled at GE only serves to add validity to the suspicions. It trickles down to shareholder confidence and probably makes investors question GE employee integrity.
My wife and I have owned GE stock for retirement funds long before J Immelt arrived and ruined this fine company. My losses on the stock are so great I continue to hold on but the company’s actions make me ashamed that I continlue as a stockholder.
If B. Obama could sit across from O’Reilly why not ‘our CEO’. I welcome O’Reilly’s comments on GE as it shows me that GE has become a spineless questionable organization. I empathizes with the employess who feel as I do , but must continue working for GE.
GE you are benefiting from the Obama administration. You completly control NBC and neither one of you are able to compete against Fox and Bill O’Reilly. Now, I see that all comments are to be approved by the site owner prior to appearing. No doubt any negative comments will not appear.
Come on GE – man up and send a spokesman on the Factor to refute the new and old questions on dealings with Iraq and Iran.
No matter what. GE would not be investigated. Remember the Obama’s cabinet are all behind GE? Hope that next president will prosecute GE and put them behind bars. Our soldiers are dying for someone’s profits….Shame on GE and it’s people.
GE is upset by the comment because of the old adage sleeping with the enemy and right now that seems sadly enough to be our own White House. An we have see where GE stands there. In line with a lot of other fat cats with there hand in our American pocket. GE is not super clean and they are big and in lots of things. Take a wide eye look at where your money is when you use and by GE. What else they are in to who know?? Bill just gave food for thought an like the White House they ran with it and got quite offensive maybe they should have a long good look at what they do, do and where there money is spent.
GE is blatant with it’s support for Obama, so I guess it’s response to Bill’s comments on the IED problem can also be blatant. The whole discussion reminds me of R. Gibbs answers to reporter’s questions, neither spokesman has any idea of what the issues are, just spit out words. I quit watching all network news programs this past year and rely on talk radio and Fox news programs. I guess you could say that I am not ‘Fair & Balanced’.
Keep up your good work, ‘Damn the torpedoes full steam ahead’
The numbers speak for themselves. NBC ratings are in the sewer. Fox news ratings beat MSNBC, CNN and HN combined, even the morning shows on FOX news beat MSNBC’s primetime ratings.
The fact GE is offended by this "false report" shows me there really is something fishy there.
How many billions has the government given to GE in loans/grants?
Clean up the Hudson river!
GE is a dying company. I for myself will NEVER buy any GE products…ever.
Regardless of the whole GE issue with rodaside bombs. What is wrong with GE and its control of NBC. Ratings down and not covering the real news and the constant put down of the american people because of opinion and protesting of current government policies. Why not get back on track and really report the news and stop the obvious support of the government policy. Rachel Maddow, Keith Oberman and the other ridiculous people on your news shows are costing you the ratings and in turn ruining your stock that I in fact own. I will not watch NBC or sadly purchase GE products if I can help it. I would sell my stock if it were actually worth anything! Wake up GE and get out of the presidential lap dance and get back to business!!!!
Ok these are fighting words, my new GE dishwasher is no good, I’m getting a Bosch per Consumer reports- and I watch Fox rather than stupid Oberman on MSNBC. No wonder I do not buy your stock, fire your CEO, get back to fundamentals that once made GE great.
I’m also here to share my support for Bill O’Reilly’s reportage and for FNC. He made it very clear that he was not accusing anyone of anything and even gave GE a chance to give their side, which is the same as written at the top of this thread. I hope that someday in the next year or so, GE changes things for the better, especially at their cable news channels. For one thing, I’m sick of the vicious personal attacks from Bill’s MSNBC competitor.
It is believable that GE would sell parts for profit that injure our troops. The propaganda arm of GE has continuously misinformed on the actions of our soldiers in the War zone. NBC painted our troops as killers of civilians, in order to push the Marxist (Democrats) into power. Now GE is getting loans from the Marxist run government as repayment for their loyalty. Shame on you GE. Let’s face it, that is the behavior that you would expect from a company is a criminally convicted by SEC. Hey share holders how do you like that return on your investment
Bill O’Reilly never accused GE. Read the transcript again. He said "we were told but cannot confirm that GE is under suspicion". Later in the piece, he says "to be clear, the Factor is not accusing anyone of anything".
As a GE shareholder for years, I have seen Jeff Immelt destroy a great company. Did he have the MSNBC staff write the GE response here?
‘Fox is in a heated rivalry with MSNBC ??$$***???? Certainly you jest. Take a look at ratings. GE and NBC have both tumbled since Jack left the ‘house’. How’s that GE stock looking since Mr. ‘I’ came on the scene?
I think that Bill was right about GE if not why all the buzz? why bother to respond? when you have very influential people that have to explain themselves one time after another … it makes you wonder …
As a "underwater" shareholder, I would hope the GE board of directors would share in and publicly express its outrage at the use of these RF devices that kill and injure our American Heros. Join Fox and O’Reilly in pursuing these war criminals! GE has the resources. This is an opportunity for GE to show what a great patriot company GE is.
As a former GE employee, I believe that this type of transaction would never have been knowingly entered into by anyone in GE. However-its a big company and a rigorous review should be undertaken to ensure there wasn’t a rogue operation in the Company trying to make budget at all costs. As far as O’Reilly is concerned-go on his program. Otherwise, you’ll have depend on the demented Keith Olberman to defend you.
Before you GE shareholders advocate legal action against Fox, it would be wise to listen to what Mr. O’Rielly actual said. Of course, I didn’t expect anyone in the GE Corporate Front Office to answer the other accusations made by Mr. O’Rielly against GE, MSMBC time and time again. The reason they don’t, they have no defense for the poor performance of GE or MSNBC.
Can any of you shareholders say for certain that the corrupt GE front-office isn’t involved with illegal trafficing in weapons? How could you justify your position when GE has already admitted to weapons sell beyond the original date given. They pay fines for accounting errors. The stock is in the tank. MSNBC is in the tank. So why should any of you believe without "proof" that what is being said by the front-office is true. Has this group lied in the past?
If I were a stockholder today (I sold my stock at $39.00 per share several years ago when a certain individual was named CEO) I would be wanting changes in the Board of Directors and the Executives at GE.
General Electric is the poorest excuse for a company since Enron. They had to pay 50 million dollars for cooking the books, and continue to keep Jeff Immelt, who did business with Iran, as the CEO. O’Reilly is an American patriot, while Immelt and his toadies at MSNBC are merely pawns of the Democratic Party.
What is GE doing even issuing a news release about the Fox News allegations? Both the fact that you "responded", and the fact that your response is unprofessional, says volumes about GE. Your statement, "We usually do not respond to the misleading and inaccurate claims made on this program because very few people take them seriously" is evidence of real problems with GE. First, you should have continued the practice of NOT responding – the fact that you did shows you might have too many recent college grads running your PR department. Second, WOW – one of the largest corporations in the world just said in a press release "because very few people take them seriously." Well, nanny nanny boo boo to you to? Aside from the fact that your blatantly incorrect (ratings belie your point), the fact that you made such a play ground statement shows me there is more to this than I initially thought. Woops, instead of putting America’s possible fears to rest, you’ve fanned the flame. Were I your CEO/Chairman, i’d add GE’s PR director to the unemployment rolls.
If GE has nothing to do with the "parts" for roadside bombs then there is nothing to hide. Send someone to appear on O’Reilly and dispute and correct him. If O’Reilly is wrong, do you (GE) not understand that O’Reilly’s audience would turn on him unmercifully? On the other hand, if GE has anything at all to do with the killing of "Our Boys" you (GE) will be done! By not responding to Mr. O’Reilly you (GE) appear to be "guilty as charged."
Jeffrey Immelt has driven a once proud company into the toilet. Obviously O’Reilly has hit a nerve and knows more than he is letting on right now about what products GE may be covertly marketing aboard that aids and abets Isalmic facists. There is not a lawyer or spokesman with the guts to go live on Fox. For you MSNBC/GE dummies, "never" respond to a lie until it is proven to be a lie! Remember "I did not have sex with that woman!"? or "you’ve been drinking haven’t you?" But you will never learn will ya. Generally those who who have something to hide have something to hide and in the end the truth will be known! Don’t bet on GE!!
I’m am much more concerned about GE’s connection to profit from the current administration. Esp. since the false reporting of NBC just prior to the election.—-I don’t like the muddy waters of GE.
News and information reaching the public when you stand to make money from legislation and influence America’s elections.—All of these things bring me to think it is entirely possible GE could do this to our Country.
I want to learn every part of GE so my money goes to the alternative business.
By the way, do really really think MSNBC can compete against any news show? It’s credibility is less than that of a cartoon. Get Real GE.
When there is a question of credibility between Bill O’Reilly, Obama and Immelt there is no doubt, Bill O’Reilly is believable.
It is all about the ratings and GE (NBC) should be embarassed with theirs. I enjoy watching CNBC but MSNBC is a joke and its rating show that fact. I think there could be a balance, but obviously that is not what Jeff Immelt wants. What he and his people have done to GE is not responsible and it might be time for a change. Wake up and smell the roses because reality has got to be setting in.
That is funny to say, "Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC". Heated rivalry??? There is no ricalry, Fox News is #1 and I’m pretty sure MSNBC barely registers on the ratings and for good reason, they are the only news that isn’t mesmerized by the emperor in his new clothes.
You really do deceive yourselves and all your stockholders. I am really sorry that you have gone the way of Enron. I WILL be selling my stocks. Where there’s smoke there is fire. I think we soon will find out that you in fact have supplied the merchants of death and terror with parts. You won’t be able to fool people about FOx and BIll, we can actually watch the show for ourselves and make up our own mind. Something we can’t do with your books…
"We usually do not respond to the misleading and inaccurate claims made on this program because very few people take them seriously"
Are You serious? Fox is blowing MSNBC away in the ratings
What are you trying to do here?
Before I check the box… I will say that I can only hope the site owner will approve it.
Journalism…reporting the news…Collecting information that leads to truth. This is where we hope to get facts. We battle not to become too cynical. It grieves me what greed does to man. GE has revealed itself to be a dishonest company and most of us are looking for companies and people we can trust. What ever happened to integrity?
GE, you should be ashamed of yourself for turning NBC into a propaganda program. GE, you should be ashamed of yourself for being one of the most corrupt companies in the world. GE, you should be ashamed of yourself for having NBC support Obama so you can make billions off the stimulus package and cap and trade. GE, if what has been reported is true you should be ashamed of yourself for trading the lives of our American heroes for money. GE, you should be ashamed of yourself and do this great nation a small favor and close your doors forever and donate everything you have to charity’s.
Did GE even read the transcript?? The transcript clearly shows Bill O’Reilly stating: "To be clear, the Factor is not accusing anyone of anything. We are just reporting what we believe to be true." He only mentioned GE at the beginning of the segment that this company was only under suspicion because of how GE admitted doing business with Iran to Michael Eisner on a CNBC program AFTER DENYING THAT to Factor producer Jesse Waters. The rest of the segment O’Reilly never mentioned GE ever, and used the term "American company" as the one doing business with nefarious people through Corezing International. Just reading the transcript shows that O’Reilly’s segment was fair and focused on facts.
It seems like that episode of O’Reilly’s talking points was a touchy subject for GE.
What’s the deal GE, if O’rielly and FOX news is lying sue them. What bothers me is Immelt has taken a once great company that has been around for years and destroyed it and he still has a job.
I am upset that GE lets ED, Hardball and Maddow say the most hatefull things about the same public that is paying for their (GE) loans. Saying that we are yelling at town hall meetings "because we are upset because we have a black pres’ and Angry Olde White Folks".
GE pull the cableTV plug on MSNBC or make it more like CNBC.
mmelt and GE also denied for many years any wrong doing in their book keeping practices. RESULT: found guilty and 50 million fine. It is time to replace immelt.
Why would Fox news risk a major lawsuit if it was not true? Remember something Mr Immelt – when you start calling the other guy names you are guilty – because otherwise you would argue the facts
As a shareholder I am embarrassed by the biased programming content on MSNBC. The GE board of directors is responsible for not reigning in Mr. Immelt. The GE board is responsible for the poor financial performance of GE. When will the board stand up and fire Mr. Immelt?
I OWN GE STOCK THROUGH MUTUAL FUNDS THAT I OWN.I BELIEVE MR. IMMELT AND HIS IMMEDIATE EXECUTIVE STAFF NEED TO LEAVE THE COMPANY.IT HAS BEEN HOBBLED BY THESE INCOMPETENTS SINCE MR. WELCH RETIRED.
Bill, I watch all of you on FOX from 9:00 am until 11:00 pm every chance I get. Please keep up with how and what you are reporting. It’s about time the public got to hear the TRUTH. We have been Hood-Winked by the other news channels and Government for too long.
Thanks for supporting America !!!
GE was it worth it? Selling your soul to the devil? You are no longer running NBC as a news organization, but merely as the White House NY press office.
I am more prone to believe Fox News and their investigative reporters than some prepared statement by attornies for GE. I Feel along with other Americans that any company that is involved in aiding the terrorists or killing any of our fine young american soldiers is no friend of mine. Shame on you! I will never buy another GE product and will make sure that I spread the word about GE’s affiliation with the Obama administration.
Heated rivalry? Hardly. But I will admit that I do watch MSNBC (I flip over for about 30 seconds to see what they’re saying); kinda in the same way you would watch a trainwreck.
G.E. in the tank! Thanks for "Bringing it to Light!"
GE was once an honorable and respectible company. Under the leadership of Jeff Immelt, however, it’s a clearly different story. I just bought a new home equipped with GE appliances. I removed them all and bought the competitor’s products. Took out the GE lightbulbs and put in the competitor’s. I’ve also ordered that none of my investments will include GE shares. MSNBC is no longer a new organization; it’s a propaganda arm for the left. And GE is clearly supporting numerous leftwing causes for their own benefit.
I truly hope GE fails. I’ll do my share by not supporting anything the company produces, and I have numerous friends who are acting in similar fashion. O’Reilly hasn’t lied; I can’t say the same for GE management.
I am a longtime GE shareholder, disgusted with the direction Jeff Immelt is taking the company. This is another example of the controversies that are damaging a once great corporation and destroying the credibility of NBC News. If Immelt cares about his shareholders he will dump the loony, left-wing MSNBC and allow NBC News to ease it’s liberally slanted reporting.
O’Reilly was definitely hitting below the belt by alluding to an unconfirmed report. But there won’t be any lawsuit here, because he included a clear disclaimer. If GE/MSNBC is going to continue to hammer FNC/O’Reilly night after night, they have to expect a little payback.
So was O’Reilly lying when he reported that GE cooked it’s books – or was the $50,000,000 Dollar fine part of a right wing conspiracy. I dumped my stock over a year ago after watching NBC and hearing the National Barrack Network stomping on Hillary. I new right then that the only way that the number 4 network goes is DOWN.
Instead of a retraction what does this moron of morons O’Reilly do on his show tonight- he defends his story that GE is under suspicion for providing the materials that the terorists use. I believe that there is liability for FOX on grounds of false and misleading representation. Let the courts decide – that moron should be held accountable.
Bill is not always right but he is here. To compare dissent with racism is impalpable.
I am and unlucky G.E shareholder who is in the deep red zone with my stock. Jeff has not been able to turn the co. around. All the proof I need that we need a new ceo. Being in bed with the administration might get us some good contracts. Maybe thats a good thing.Don’t seem to get any news from abc, nbc, or cbs. mostly opinions. Guess they believe we are not smart enough to figure this out.
someone from GE should go on o’reilly to refute the argument with evidence that can be verified. go ahead and use bill’s argument against him. evidence that can be verified is the best way to recover.
Too many years ago to remember exactly when my husband and I bought GE stock which was widely then respected. Since Jeffrey Immelt’s ascension to power, GE has steadily gone downhill in value and respect. What I cannot understand is why the shareholders don’t rise up and kick his sorry "keester" out! Guess they are like us and don’t own enough shares to make enough of a difference. Keep up the good work, Bill, exposing the hypocrisy of Immelt and others like him.
Fox is a reformer of truth in a corrupt media. MSNBC is a cesspool of lies and deception. I have no respect for media that is in the pocket of any president GOP or Liberal. Bill is a reformer and that is why people hate him. He tells the truth!
If GE would spend more time building reliable home appliances and less time carrying water for the Obama people, they (GE) wouldn’t be in a ratings war with Fox News.
O’Reilly was not the only one reporting GE’s possible links to illegal sales. A blogger made an analogy by saying he could not confirm it but, "heard that O’Reilly was a communist". Because of O’Reilly’s reputation such a statement means nothing to him or, anyone else. Unfortunately, G.E. cannot stand on it’s reputation and consequently is suspect and such suspicions deserve consideration. Add to that G.E.’s vested interest in MSNBC and that news station’s reporting of the story is absolutely worthless. As the American people realize more and more about the Obama administration’s links to unsavory people and organizations its credibility continues to deteriorate. It appears more and more to be a corrupt organization.
My wife and I are long time GE stock holders. We inherited the stock from my wifes father. He worked for GE when it was a company to be proud of. Her father is probably turning over in his grave to see what Immelt has done to this company. It is obvious that Immelt is in the White Houses’ pocket. He,Immelt,is receiving government money,ie, our tax dollars, while he is cutting our dividends. Thank God for Fox News it is the only place that we get the truth.
If you want to hear some real lies- tune in to the Keith O. show on MSNBC during the commercials on the O’Reilly Show-
knowing the "Ge" way the all important Bottom line I would not discount the fox news report If it is false I’m sure GE will respond legally
I’m glad my father did not live to see the day that GE would be shaming it’s good name with all the shananagans they have been up to, especially cooking the books and being involved with these devices that, in around about way, can be traced back to GE. if that was not true GE would fight it in court!
I’m also glad I got rid of my GE stocks before Immelt could lower it’s value. I no longer want anything to do with GE, and try my best to stay away from all their products & subsidiaries. I never watched msnbc, and probably never will.
GE is in bed with obama and his Chicago thugs, trying to ruin this country. I believe and agree with most of what Bill O’Reilly says and writes and anyone with an opened mind and a clear conscience would as well.
I’m a disabled woman, a conservative Independent and a small business owner.
It should be embarrassing for GE to claim ownership of MSNBC. I will not buy any GE products because of their one-sided view.
GE refuses to disprove what O’Reilly has constantly been stating, that GE is a lapdog of the Obama Administration, has been a provider of weapons and equipment ultimately used against American soldiers.
My family refuses to buy GE products henceforth.
Connecting GE’s views to the very obvious Obama supporting MSNBC (owned by GE) is a very big jump. Although MSNBC seems to want to say anything they can dream about the greatness of Obama, CNBC (also owned by GE) does not support Obama. I own GE and do not support Obama.
GE is a great corporation. Ronald Regan repeated the GE slogan while he represented GE “Progress is our most important product”. GE is supporting efficient; power generation, aircraft engines, trains, appliances, medical equipment, and many more infrastructure improvement. This is progress! The crazy comments from MSNBC are political, and in my life experience; is not representative GE’s direction or strategy.
Regardless of the Washington politics, GE will use the best people, and its long proven experience, in the development and manufacturing of excellent quality products to support US leadership in world commerce.
The people at MSNBC and FOXNEWS really have no clue. Their belief that the government and politics should influence “PROGRESS” is grossly misinterpreting the abilities of our government to efficiently accomplish goals. Ronald Regan knew that “government is the problem”. Our government cannot function or meet any worthwhile goals without corporations like GE. The politics in Washington are but a small blip when compared to organizations like GE which offer the value of efficiency and commerce.
The flawed laws and regulations coming from the Republican and Democrats in Washington cannot be compared to the highest quality of the hard products from GE!
It is very likely that the owners of FOXNEWS has as much or more control over news content as GE owners (I own GE and have no control) does over MSNBC. To blame these owners for the bias in each of these “news” organizations is absurd.
My husband has worked for GE for 36 years and thank God we had dumped our stocks before we lost everything. Otherwise…we would have to be on welfare! Jeff Immelt should of been gone, a long time ago! Wake up America, listen to Fox News!
There is only one person to blame here. And he has the title of CEO at GE. GE can do so much better than this guy. Instead of trying some "class action lawsuits", why dont you share holders get some real class and fire Immelt! Move On!
I watch both Fox and MSNBC and try to find the truth somewhere in the mix. Where the truth lies can sometimes be revealed in the tactics of the response from each to the other. Personal afronts and attempte to marginalize or divert are often tactics of guilty parties. I recommend that you respond to Bill O’Rielly"s questions in a manner that does not make you look guilty. The truth will either set you free or convict you.
The response by GE does not address the issues raised. If GE wants O’Reilly to stop his badgering, just answer the charges directly or sue Fox News. Our judicial system still works.
I personally consider GE management culpable in the political news bias of MSNBC and NBC. GE stock value and my investment is being adversely affected by opinion takeover and news slant by the far left at these two subsidiaries of GE. A great company is being harmed from within on a daily basis. This must be addressed at the board level by GE since their chief executive has not done so.
Wow! It’s so enlightening to watch all you liberals go on in your daydreams of shouting insults on TV to people reporting the news. At least O’Reilly is reporting and inviting people to make their own decisions based on the facts. NBC and MSNBC simply tell you their twisted crap and expect you to believe it. It was clearly stated that Fox could not confirm that GE was under suspicion and later stated that he was not accusing anyone of anything. The ensuing discussion was aimed toward understanding whether the American people would be privliged to the information if the Justice Dept chose not to prosecute(if any wrongdoing was found), or will we be kept in the dark. This seems to be a legitimate question that should be asked and discussed. To those of you who have to scream about Fox Zombies and Fuhrers and are unable to engage in relevant debate with the adults, please keep your TV viewing to SpongeBob and Speedracer. God Bless America and our right to free speech.
As a former shareholder I only have one question. What reputation is there left to besmirch? As long as you have the present management guiding this once fine company you will remain the laughing stock of your competition and the entire corporate world.
If MSNBC is in a heated rivalry with Fox, Michael Vick is the new president of PITA.
If you like hate speech, Olberman is in a class (low class) by himself.
As for GE, most of their domestic consumer products really suck.
Bill O’Reilly is probably one of the most accurate and honest news people this country has ever seen. Jeff Immelt on the other hand is one of the worst examples of a corporate executive this country has ever seen. He is a sorry excuse for an American, to support the Obama mob in the destruction of the United States is inexcusable. He is the one that should be sued for ruining GE. GE was America at one time. My bet is we are going to find out that GE has been involved in the sale of certain parts of bombs that have been used against our troops. If it turns out to be true Immelt should be arrested and charged with treason. GE get out of Obama’s pocket and go back to supporting this country and your employees.
I have confidence in Fox News giving me the correct information. I believe that GE has gone astray in regard to the best interests of the American people who have supported them by purchasing their products and services through the years. It is time to take a good look at the negative aspects of what GE is doing to this country with their policies and alignments with radical political entities to acquire unreasonable profits over the Green Energy hoax being imposed on the people of this nation. No individual company should have this much power. I am alarmed about the aledged involvement of GE with the Iranian government to provide technology of warfare that could be used against our military. I remain a concerned patriotic American who has worked in healthcare for 35 years and appreciate the freedoms given to me through the sacrifice of those who lost their lives so that I may live in a country where I am free from tyranny.
God Bless America
This is a newsworthy story, and even the implication that this might be so would, in a fair society, be followed by every responsible journalist. The truth of the matter is that lies propagated from the likes of "longterm investor" about Fox News just clouds the real problem here. Journalists, by and large give you all a free ride. From the president’s administration down to GE itself, we have not seen any real investigative energies put into reporting what is really going on, rather what you all wish was going on. Translation, you pick your truth and market it out. That’s why Fox wins the ratings and that’s why people want to hear about how corrupt companies like GE are. Cooking the books… bad enough for me. I won’t be buying GE any time soon, because I use facts not your propaganda to make my decisions.
Perhaps GE should look at the ratings if they think Bill O’Reilly is in a ratings fight with MSNBC. With what I have seen on MSNBC, they do more harm to GE than Bill O’Reilly ever could. Perhaps the fact that you have had to pay a fine for improper bookkeeping has more to do with your reputation than Bill o’Reilly. With MSNBC, NBC, paying fines, getting sweetheart deals with this administration, what you have to say does not count for a whole lot.
I read some articles about the BOR/G.E. story that were interesting. First, would BOR stake his career and reputation on a story he knows to be false? This would put him right up there with Dan Rather. I believe someone leaked this information to BOR and he decided to air the story for two reasons.
1) If G.E. wants to file a defamation suit, the defense (Fox News) will have a right to discovery and G.E. will have to comply with full disclosure. G.E. will never do this and BOR knows it.
2) Just like BOR stated last night…the documents are probably classified and will never see the light of day unless the charges can be proven.
I also believe G.E. just wants this story to go away. They will not bring a suit against BOR and Fox News because they could never prove their case and they don’t want to make their records public. They had to respond to the allegation but I will bet that this story will never be brought up again unless one side can drop a serious bomb. I also bet that the management at G.E. specifically told Olby to drop the story after tonight and never mention it again.
This is serious stuff. It would seem to me that GE should take a stand and challange Fox in court or at least go live on the Factor. Talk is cheap-takes money to buy whiskey.
thats funny how g.e responded with a letter wining and crying about fox and oreilly…immelt, obama, reid, pelosi, frank, biden, and all the other goddless pagans running our country will get theres one day. MAY THE LORD HAVE MERCY ON THIS COUNTRY.
I truly pray that GE, with it’s proud history, is not involved or affiliated with any company doing harm to our service men and women overseas. My advise is, If there is nothig to hide then open your doors, open your books and welcome the investigation. Show that GE is an all american company we can be proud of….or suffer the consequences.
I find it strange that GE is complaining about "innacurate claims". Yet on their own web site they have a story about their response to the SEC. Strangely the reason they have to respond to the SEC is for having "innacurate claims" in their bookkeeping.
Selective outrage???
People saying MSNBC & FOX are in a heated rivalry are also fans of "Professional" wrestling and the Washington Generals "rivalry" with the Globetrotters. FOX is drubbing the snot out of MSNBC and their loons.
I am an American verteran who served in iraq. I know for a fact that materials from Iran was used for roadside bombs. Children have been killed from those bombs not just Americans. G E publicly ammitted to doing business with Iran. How do they know that the same material they sell to Iran is NOT being sent into Iraq. As a Soldier we called that indirect fire. I guess thats just business for G E.
Being a fan of Bill O’Reilly – I know he always checks his facts. He did mention GE but he did not accuse! But he most certainly knows his facts. And one of the commentors mentioned that a GE representative should go on O’Reilly .. that is an excellent idea but do be aware that no on has ever obliterated Bill O’Reilly in an interview.
What is so hard to understand. Fox News was told GE was under suspicion but cannot confirm it. Boo Hoo. Did that hit a sore spot? I quit watching NBC about 18 months ago. Started watching Fox News at that time and haven’t looked back. If I had to choose who to believe, it wouldn’t be GE. Is GE afraid to appear on Fox News?
How can you even say that Fox News is in a “heated rivalry” with GE’s MSNBC?
MSNBC is quite frankly a "joke" as a "news network"
–all it ever reports is the leftists’ opinions and lies
of the day. FOX reports fact-based news that I KNOW I CAN TRUST. I believe in the
the good judgement and strong values of men like Bill O’Reilly,
Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck who report the Truth. Thank Goodness for
FOX NEWS, it keeps me grounded, informed and has been such a great
resource in helping me sort out the TRUTH — and that’s all the American
want when the turn to theiry new source — the TRUTH, not lies.
Finally, you alone have damaged yourselves — Mr. O’Reilly just sheds light
on the deception he sees. Be careful because his light shines brightly
and there isn’t a dimmer switch on his search for the TRUTH. Thank God for that or we would really be lost.
When I watch FOX, I am confident I’ll get the truth; as for any GE owned news organization I know they will never report the truth.
In a nutshell …. I, along with tons of family and friends, have instituted a COMPLETE & TOTAL BOYCOTT of absolutely ANYTHING related to General Electric!!!
This BOYCOTT is catching on too … as there are now bloggs appearing touting the same concept!
It will spread wider than GE’s ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, AND UNETHICAL Cooking of books, dealing with terrorists, and aiding in the death of OUR TROOPS!!!
The same IDIOTS who were spitting on our troops when they came back from Vietnam, were the same IDIOTS Leaking top secret info to the NY Times, and and the SAME IDIOTS RUNNING OUR GREAT NATION!!!!
OBAMA AND THE COMMUNISTS HE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 20 YRS, INCLUDING GENERAL ELECTRIC, ARE FACING POLL NUMBERS WHICH ARE GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!!
O’reilly may be a little over the top, but in no way touches the lies and filth that spews out of Keith Oberman. Occasionally I flip to MSNBC during commercials to get a good laugh.
Hey Jeff
How do you have time for this. Don’t you have some tax payer money that you need to spend.
And Fox is kicking your butt on ratings. Why? Because they report the news and they view both sides. You have those beaten favorites that only insult Americans. There is no investigative reporting on your stations. People cant leave fast enough.
O’Reilly dislikes Immelt and has been trying to get him and Zucker ousted for sometime by exposing them. I think O’reilly owns a bunch of GE stock that has plummetted and is bitter because he believes Immelt is the cause of the GE distruction. I believe GE has admitted to doing some business with Iran in the past. O’reilly is clear that he has no evidence but will continue to investigate.
Maybe this is the first time O’reilly has got it wrong. GE has not issued any statement in the past about anything else said.
RT
GE and MSNBC are losing to Fox News. Bill O. wipes out his competition (If you can call it competition) at MSNBC. Make NO mistake about it…. the current liberal administration likes GE…. the PEOPLE I know despise you.
O’Reilly would not make the comments about GE without first vetting them. His commentary about the terrible business practices of GE doing business with America’s enemy’s is nothing new. People should wake up and smell the rotten apples in the barrell. What would anyone expect GE to say? Not even their PR dept. can make a compelling argument about their behavior. I dumped the stock several years ago before it dropped to less than 1/4 of what I paid for it. It’s even lower now. Go figure.
Why won’t a GE spokesperson go on the Factor and answer the allegations? I can’t imagine what cable news would be like without Fox News holding companies, politicians, child molesters and entertainers accountable for their actions. And besides, who can watch Keith Olberman anyway? Keep doing what you’re doing Bill–the folks are backing you!
i feel sadness about an american company corrupted by greed. I bout a GE washer and dryer about 5 years ago, but now we aren’t going to buy anything thats GE no more O’REILLY was only reporting the news he was been fair with GE but looks like GE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. no wonder GE stock are down just like MSNBC is down on rating. FOXNEWS IS FAIR AND BALANCE ALWAYS.
What a shame! You were once a great enterprize, a great example of the American "Can Do" spirit. Now you aren’t even American. Our troops are doing their jobs to defend you, and you have stooped to helping our enemies kill them. From now on, you are on their side. Work G"al quaida"E into a new company logo.
GE’s good name? Jeffrey Immelt has run this once great company into the ground. How does he keep his job? They did business with Iran. Immelt denied it then it came out. People were outraged over Enron and GE is doing the same thing. Lets see where the investigation goes. If GE is involved, I hope the FBI prosecutes to the fullest extent of the law. Hopefully Obama will not intercede and help his friend.
First of all as John said earlier, the idea that Fox News and MSNBC are in a heated rivalry is a joke. Fox News blows them away in every time slot because their anchors and commentators don’t get tingley feelings down their legs every time a certain politician speaks. And secondly Bill O’reilly did not say that GE was guilty. He only said that they might be investigated. And it is a fact that GE has done business with Iran in the past.
As usual, GE and its subsidiaries cannot be trusted to report the truth. Naysayers should follow the link to the actual transcript…
"O’REILLY: To be clear, the Factor is not accusing anyone of anything. We are just reporting what we believe to be true. But if any American company did send material to Corezing, again, a major Iranian partner, they must be investigated to the fullest extent. The lives and suffering of our brave military are at stake here."
I watched the show and believe that Bill raised questions but did not accuse anyone of anything.
As a stockholder of this company, I am ashamed to say that Fox News gives far more balanced and comprehensive coverage than this company’s News divisions do. If, as you say, the suspicions are baseless, then the investigation will show that. Your attack on another news organization is absolutely unwarranted. Management would be better served by actually assembling a fair balanced news division of its own than worrying about what another company says.
I guess I’m one of the "very few people" who takes Fox seriously, as is everyone I know, all my family, my neighbors, the people I work with, and even those I bump into on any given day.
It’s precisely this elitist attitude on the part of MSNBC which has crippled its ratings. The snarky, scoffing leftists on MSNBC long ago became predictable caricatures. As others have said, there is obviously no more of heated struggled between Fox and MSNBC than there is between Tiger Woods and my 97 year old, yet-to-be-unplugged grandma.
As for the charge that O’Reilly is reckless… Have you been following his reporting on GE and MSNBC for the past year? Do you even know what you are talking about? Sounds to me like you meant to describe MSNBC "feckless". That would make a lot more sense.
Dear GE,
I used to hold GE in very high esteem. I remember the heady years when GE’s superb reputation resounded world-wide. I have never been affiliated with GE except during earlier years as a very pleased retail customer. Talk on the street in those days was that GE didn’t market a product unless GE intended the product to rank 1 – 2 or 3 in the market-place.
Oh, how times have changed… I have noted in recent years, the way in which MSNBC daily misbehaves, throwing prudent journalism to the wind but unmistakably intentionally and with out remorse, trades in lies, spinning to serve their lowly purposes and mismatches panelists. That mismatch often takes the form of a liberal show host, hosting a stacked panel of all liberals or, at the most, one conservative.
I confess to watching MSNBC for brief moments sometimes daily, just because it amuses me to sometimes watch and listen as pretenders put on their act. Rest assured, I never watch MSNBC to learn the truth. Please trust that the bulk of my viewing is with your competitors.
For the truth, or atleast fair and balanced political conversation, I trust Fox News Channel. Yes, I’ll say FNC’s philosophical view of the world alligns closely with mine. I feel I get reasonable reporting from Fox.
As to Mr O’Reilly… I’ve watched him for years now. He seems to never disappoint me with his commentaries which I believe to be cobbled from honest representations of the facts, atleast as he understands them.
As Mr O’Reily puts it in this current IED source discussion, "I don’t know all the facts". I think, however, human nature as it is, would counsel that in a he-said / she-said such as this IED controversy, one would tend to disbelieve the party that has been lieing, distorting all along. By your association with MSNBC, GE, it follows that I have difficulty accepting your version. The old saying goes, "Lie to me once..Shame on you. Lie to me twice..Shame on me."
I see from others commenting and concurring, that GE’s star does not shine as bright as it once did. I see I am not alone in longing for your better days. My advice to you GE is to not protest too loudly. Things will only get worse.
A former customer,
Tom
Dear GE,
Please go back to making appliances, DC Motors and all the things that made you a great company. Get out of Politics, and using your TV stations MSNBC, CNBC, and NBC for political gain, you used to be a good, well respected company, now sadly your management and your "reporters" who quite frankly are as biased as they possible can be are clowns and it isnt good for business.
I have to admit that before I started watching O’Reilly, I thought he was a nut, now after watching him I find him to be one the most fair and balanced news people on tv.
Remember if you want to play in the mud you are gonna get dirty.
Best Regards,
A Non Partisan Citizen
I find it amusing that the best response you can give to this apparent "smear campaign" is a childish attempt to discredit Fox News and O’Reilly. It’s equally amusing that you’re whole lot thinks that the public can continue to be fooled by your games. You’ve lost the trust of the masses. I’m sure it was fun while it lasted.
Watch the program. O’Reilly didn’t flat out say it, as to set themselves up for slander. He made a connection when they confronted Immelt about it a couple years ago and he refused to comment. He was very clear that it wasn’t an accusation; so try and sue them, I’m sure your "funny" accountants can fudge the costs off the books.
Immelt’s accounting skills are about as good as Geithner’s. FOX tells it like it is.
Lets see if I get this right.. GE is huffing and puffing, but not acting, Obama is whining and crying because America won’t play ball with him, sounds like they are both going to pick up their marbles and go home because they can’t BS the American people. O’Reilly tries to see both sides but after awhile if it looks, acts and quacks like a duck then it has to be a duck. We could always ask WHPS Gibbs, he could be the new GE Spin doctor. Immelt needs to go, and be replaced with someone who knows how to make GE a great company. They need to sell off their news orgs, maybe Obama will take it over, then we can have a news czar. 24/7 of Obama news. After he bankruots us, maybe he could them hold a telethon to raise money, have ACORN answer the phones. We need FOX to at least give us news that we can decide on.
Obama and FDR must be kissin’ cousins. The manner in Obama is enticing business into bed with him should be deja vu to all Americans. WISE UP. This president is getting corporations to do HIS dirty work, all for subsidies which amount to nothing less than YOUR tax dollars. I have watched Bill O’Reilly for six months now and have found his reporting to be entirely fair and balanced. I have stopped watching NBC and MSNBC because of their outright lies. Watch both news services with an open mind and a level of personal honesty. You’ll be hard pressed to deduce that its Fox News which is staffed chock full of liars. Open your eyes America. Before its too late.
MSNBC versus FOX NEWS????????? Someone at GE is a nebbish, or they are completely deluded!
It is very simple. If GE does not do anything what FOX claim they should claim it publicly and go to Fox prove it. So far GE is hiding ,using ABC as spokeman for GE and CEO is wishy washy( very secretive)about charges and that’s what make GE and CEO guilty..it is obvious that this kind of behavior resulting in obvious GUILT.CEO should go.Just for insulting the taxpayers and being notorious LIER!!!How long the board members will wait???
Newspapers and Cable News are dying due to such total left bias that they are not worth wasting time on. FOX is the only station that provides real unbiased news. O’Reilly rules Cable News so attack may help your sad excuse for a news outlet but don’t hold your breath. Comments like "Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network and this has influenced its coverage of GE" are so far wrong that who can trust anything heard on this channel? It’s this sort of nonsense that has viewers totally turned off.
Contrary to your response to Bill O’Reilly, I think alot of people take these claims very seriously and I believe you have done a good job yourself of damaging the reputation of GE. MSNBC and NBC are like watching bad reality tv, it’s a joke! I was a loyal viewer until a few months ago, now I watch Fox for real news. Thank you Bill O’Reilly.
I watched the O’Reilly Factor in full and heard what Bill O’Reilly said. He did not accuse GE of any wrong doing. O’Reilly actually went out of his way to say, "The factor is not accusing anyone of anything." This story is about American made products being used to hurt and kill American Soldiers (which is a major news story). O’Reilly let his viewers know that there may be a classified investigation underway involving an American Company.
O’Reilly reported that "the Factor" had been told, (but could not confirm) that the General Electric corporation was under investigation. He reported that GE responsed stating that they do not do business with Corezing International.
As a Law Enforcement Officer, I have news for the General Electric Corporation, we don’t send out memos or tell you when we are investigating you. That would be absolutely ridiculous. If anything, O’Reilly helped GE out by giving them a heads up. Sounds to me like someone involved in an investigation may have leaked information, which would not be a first.
This information did not in any way state that GE did anything wrong nor accuse this corporation of wrong doing.
I just hope that the e-mail statement GE provided was accurate. I still remember when Jeff Immelt stated that GE did not do business with Iran. Which turned out to be an incorrect statement.
GE should fire Immelt, (get out of partisan politics) and go back to making quality appliances at affordable prices so that the American Tax Payers, your shareholders and consumers don’t have to bail you out again.
What good name, Immelt has ruined that long ago. Good luck on your marriage with Obama Jeff.
I now understand what "imagination at work" means.
– GE using their "Imagination" by stating "Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network". While MSNBC is "at work" propagating a liberal slant.
– GE using their "Imagination" to "cook the books" and now are hard "at work" paying a $50,000,000 dollar fine.
– GE using their "Imagination" to make us believe that man is causing global warming, and they are hard "at work" trying to make us believe it.
When Jeffrey Immelt took over GE eight short years ago, his leadership has taken a great company named General Electric that had a stock price of $39.35 to now a Government Entity and a stock value of $14.10 at closing today.
The only tingle I have had come up my leg (sorry Chris Matthews), is when I sold my GE stock at $36 in December of 2004. Board of directors do your job and fire Immelt, by doing so, you will be "bringing good things to life" again.
How does O’Reilly’s opinion of msnbc cause them to lose current viewers. If O’Reilly is telling lies, does msnbc not think its viewers would know he’s lying? He could cut new viewers of msnbc, but in August msnbc’s ratings dropped 15%. The reason for that is msnbc is not a news network, but a propaganda network. Read the transcript where it says: to be clear we are not accusing anyone of anything, only reporting information that he had received.
Look, you want to defend your company? Go on the O’Reilly Show. It gets the biggest audience. I heard GE is selling, is that true? Maybe you should dump MSNBC, reporting the news should be independent agencies anyway with ethical unaffiliated reports.
Take the high road, admit your mistakes, then move on. My company has some kind of partnership with GE, but I’m thinking about influencing the upper management to cut ties. Open up, GE or else your stocks will keep falling.
I HELD GE STOCK FOR SOME YEARS BUT SOLD IT WHEN MSNBC AND NBC WENT MEGA LIBERAL AND RADICAL DEMOCRAT. IMMELT HAS DESTROYED A FINE COMPANY AND CONTINUES TO TANK IT. IF YOU ARE NOT GUILTY, THEN GET SOMEONE OVER TO FOX TO PUT CHARGES TO REST. IF YOU ARE DOING THESE BAD THINGS STOP IT AND REPENT.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTOR NEEDS TO DUMP IMMELT BEFORE HE DOES MORE DAMAGE.
NBC has been in decline for many years. Very biased and un-trustworthy reporting.Fox reports the news fair and balanced and that is why they rule in the ratings. Bill is someone we trust to look out for the folks.I just tune NBC,MSNBC(hate mongers)out as they are only in the pocket for Obama.
MSNBC competes with Fox News about like my local home paper competes with the New York Times. The closest they get is that they are both TV channels. The similarity ends there. General Electric has just agreed to a $50 million fine for "bending the rules beyond the breaking point" with misleading accounting tactics. I watch The O’Reilly Factor daily and he does go after GE quite a bit, but not without reason. GE is involved in a number of questionable practices. This particular situation Bill did not state that GE was under investigation, he simply said GE was under suspicion. Fox News is blowing MSNBC away every day in the ratings for a reason. The average American is sick of MSNBC’s left-wing slant and just doesn’t watch.
God Bless America!
Damaged what reputation??? Your CEO seems to be doing damage to the company and the value per share all by his lonesome. Its surprising your shareholders haven’t drummed him outta there by now…he seems to spend more time kissing up to the Prez than steering the company back to respectability. MSNBC is a pretty sad entity too….if they had any scruples they might want to become a news organization and abandon the "cheerleading for Obama" its pretty sickening!!
If I was a GE shareholder, (and I’m glad I’m not),
I would be screaming for Mr. Immelts resignation.
Bill O’Reilly has accurately reported that since Immelt took over from Jack Welch, GE’s stock has plumeted.
The fact that Immelt approves of the obvious bias at MSNBC, is uncomprehensible. How can you have objective reporting from Olberman, and Maddow when their shows are one sided, and don’t offer the opposing view?. I think that the majority of the American people are smart enough to realize that MSNBC has an agenda.
O’Reilly is spot on, that the president of NBC NEWS, Jeff Zucker, under the direction of Immelt, have decided to take NBC NEWS left of center, for ratings, and that is not going to change anytime soon. What say you Mr. Brokaw?
morning joe is cool maybe better than fox and friends but i watch cnbc in the morning anways and when i want the unbiased news i do watch fox most of the time with the exception of anderson cooper on cnn he’s not bad. actually the only person on cnn i really do not enjoy watching is larry king i don’t even know what kind of show he does anyways, but orielly is the best, makes me feel right at home.
If GE sues Fox, Fox has the right to discovery and GE would have to open up their books. Does GE really want to do that after they have already been fined 50 million by the SEC for fraud?
PS If you watch Keith Olbermann you are a mindless robot. The fat man is incapable of telling the truth.
I surf during commerical breaks for the Factor and go to MSNBC for comic relief.Oberman is such fool it’s comical. Unfortunatley I own GE as part of my mutal fund but if this turns out to be true GE is history….thank you Bill, your a great American, Immelt…your a disgrace to your country.
Well, I saw the news and did not interrupt or deduce the same outcome as stated by GE because I do not know. If this is not true, GE should prove such. It is nice to see the news that offers some real investigative reporting(must be correct too). I do not see that on the other channels.
Respectfully submitted,
Based on your comments above, you obviously didn’t listen to what Mr. O’Reily said. As far as the competition between Fox and MSNBC goes, you are so far left that you don’t even try to hide it. And if it comes out in an investigation that your company has done or is currently doing business with terrorist organizations, whether its through a third party or not, I will make it my life-long vow never to purchase any of your products. I would also like to comment on your advertising that references veterans who are in your employment. It is an obvious ploy to gain respect from veteran loving Americans. Based on your political contributions and lobbying, in support of anti-military political candidates and/or groups, I feel that your advertising is very hypocritical.
If the charges are false, GE should have no trouble pursuing and collected a claim for slander or liable.
If they have even a hint of truth, then it is a bad idea to argue against people who buy ink by the barrel.
My concern is the larger issue about the direction of GE. There was a point in time when the clear direction of the company was to be either #1 or #2 in each of its markets. GE was an inventor and market leader. The quality went in before the name went on, and we believed it. GE was the shortest abbreviation for "quality" in the english language.
Now? We have a company who cooks the books. We have a company who supports an "also ran" "news" organization as they blatantly make the news instead of reporting it. We have a company that makes inferior products that is surviving by suckling from the public udder.
In the past decade I have been disappointed with several GE products. The final straw for me was a GE Coffee Maker that worked out of the box and broke within a week. Even the simplest electronics seem to be beyond current GE engineers. Edison must be rolling over in his grave.
The company needs to focus on fixing its core business instead of wasting management time nattering at a "town gossip" like Bill O’Reilly.
I sold my shares in the last year, and I will not buy anymore until I see a fundamental change in this once "great" American Company.
Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly is a highly respected journalist who reports the facts about the problem of American-manufactured IEDS that our killing our soldiers. Bill does not need to rely on hyperbole. He and his research team need to check and recheck facts before they are released to the public. Some other news agencies could learn a lesson hmm NBC? Fox is held to a higher standard of newsreporting (God knows if they weren’t they’d be sued.) Try some fair and balance reporting for a change; not the "yellow journalism" that is being thrown out there for people to believe it. People are tired of this kind of news reports. We want honesty and integrity and Fox and O’Reilly certainly meet those standards. I look forward to more reporting on the ied parts.
Jeff Immelt had told O’Reilly’s producer that he did not sell arms to Iran – this turned out to be a lie. We lose trust in a company like GE when we discover such un-American dealings with a country like Iran to make a buck; all the while killing our men and women who are serving our great country. This is treason. I will not purchase any GE Products. P.S. Bill always offers opposing points of view so why doesn’t Immelt appear on his show to explain whether or not he was involved in any unseemly shennigans. It all comes out in the wash sooner or later. People are not standing and taking eveything this is being spoon fed them by the other news agencies.
The workers in the GE plants are some of the best in the world. Their products speak for themselves. The management and news spinoff however are just the opposite. Get Immelt and his crew out of the way and let the workers bring this company back to greatness. That would do the stockholders more good than a drawn out legal battle that would only move a lot of lawyers into a higher tax bracket!
I watch Fox because they are the only news channel that reports the news good or bad and not like NBC who won’t report anything negative against Obama. You would expect to hear the truth and all news stations but not any more. GE and NBC are a so far to the left it is disgraceful. Shame on you
It would be hard for Fox News to smear GE’s company name. You guys seem to be doing a great job of that on your own. Stop blurring the line between news and business. Journalism should be non-partisan which GE/NBC definitely are not. Corporate money (which you received from us, the middle class taxpayers: teachers, police officers, fire fighters, etc.), should certainly not be going to support political candidates!!!
GE’s outrage at a implication is almost laughable. It would be easier to feel sorry for you if you weren’t trying so hard to insert yourselves into the "story" you are trying to report on. What happened to a media that presents facts and NOT political opinions. In my mind you are a danger to this country merely by becoming a "mouthpiece" for whatever political opinion you happen to support. It’s a dangerous thing when we can’t trust our media to question things and hold people accountable!!! Maybe the next generation of journalists will reestablish the press to the prestigious place it once held…purveyor of truth/fact/without slanting it.
When NBC and MSNBC stopped being balanced in their indepth reporting I stopped watching it. You better get back on track reporting the news good or bad about everyone and stop being partial, your looking like fools.
Jeff Immelt, GE, and MSNBC have in my mind alligned themselves with the liberal left and I want nothing to do them.
"As we told Fox News prior to the broadcast, GE does not make the product in question nor does it do business with a company identified by Fox News as being involved in these alleged transactions."
I don’t think Bill said, in fact I know he did’t say you manufctured ulnits because for some reason my computor is playing the TV segment now and not one word said in your quote was even refferenced.
I can now see why your news station media gets everything so back words. when a largest company in the world can’t see, hear or read what Fox actualy said. I invite you to go to Foxs web site and listen to the broad cast.
I had half my life savings in GE and now I have lost almost all of it because of bad management. Immelt has mismanaged the GE company and now he is working for Obama. MSNBC is a joke and I just get sick watching it. I have been a democrat for over 45 years and I didn’t vote for Bush but I did Obama and now I am sorry I did. He is driving our great country bankrupt and his Czars do not know what they are doing. I have to watch FOX so I can get the news. Immelt needs to be in jail for what he has done at GE including breaking the law. GE just paid a fine, we would be in jail for sure. Can’t wait for the next election!!!
If, in fact, "O’Reilly and Fox News have knowingly and without foundation damaged the reputation of GE, its employees and shareholders," then I suppose a lawsuit will be forthcoming? Probably not. And since Fox News obliterates MSNBC in the ratings, it’s hard to understand how there could be a "heated rivalry." You wish. Nice spin.
