GE responds to Fox News’s smears

August 11, 2009

Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, accused GE of being under suspicion for providing materials that are used by terrorists to build roadside bombs to attack U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no truth to this irresponsible and maliciously false report. O’Reilly and Fox News have provided no facts and no evidence to support their outrageous claims. As we told Fox News prior to the broadcast, GE does not make the product in question nor does it do business with a company identified by Fox News as being involved in these alleged transactions.

Amazingly, O’Reilly admits that Fox News cannot confirm that GE is under suspicion yet makes the charge anyway. Read the full transcript.

Fox News is in a heated rivalry with GE’s MSNBC cable news network and this has influenced its coverage of GE. We usually do not respond to the misleading and inaccurate claims made on this program because very few people take them seriously, but tonight’s report took this smear campaign to a new low. GE is not going to let the reputation of a good company and its good people be smeared by this reckless attack by a television personality. O’Reilly and Fox News have knowingly and without foundation damaged the reputation of GE, its employees and shareholders.

It’s obvious that GE has a lot riding on this administration and what they stand to gain. From trains (new routes from Calif to Nevada), light bulbs (enviroment), jet engines, wind turbines, health care equipment, the list is endless and the Obama admin agenda is right where they want it. Their use of MSNBC and NBC with the exception of CNBC is so over the top (LEFT)it’s hard to understand why someone at GE Universal hasn’t pulled the plug on the group made up of "The Nastys" OLBERMAN, MATTHEWS, L. O’DONNELL, MADDOW and SCHULTZ is amazing. I keep up with them on Newsbusters and Newster. They are in the tank and GE’s willing to leave them there. I use to watch all of NBC programs. I wouldn’t watch any of them now because of their motives which may include what O’Reilly alluded to. If he’s wrong sue, but there is no rivalry. FOX wins hands down. This is until GE and Obama come up with some way to get rid of FOX….GOD FORBID

  • Betty

even if you are truthfull about not doing business with Iran after 2005 why would you do business with them at all? sence the Carter admin. they have called us their enemy. msnbc is a joke and their ratings prove it. Bill OReilly produces facts, if they are incorrect then go on the show and prove him wrong. I believe Jeff Immelt had distroyed a once GREAT American co.

  • Larry

I am generally in O’Reilly’s camp on all issues and I am certainly no fan of GE. In this case however, I feel Bill took a cheap shot at GE.

  • ann

I also work for GE and I believe there busines practices are questionable. Someone should really take a closer look.

  • Pat Foster

Fox News did not accuse GE of anything. They simply reported that GE as well as many other companies makes this device. Fox is not damaging GE’s reputation GE is doing that just fine on their known. When MSNBC slants the truth or tells flat out lies many don’t question them because they have the support of the far left who don’t care about truth or the Constitution. I agree with James. I can’t wait for the next election. One difference is I did not vote for Obama. Oh, for you far left it had nothing to do with the color of his skin. Just look who he surrounds himself with and it tells the story. For all the people who are "sorry" they voted for him I say you are as much to blame for the mess as he is. As for Jeff Immelt, he is a joke and in bed with Obama. It all makes we sick. But at least I have a clear conscience that I tried to prevent this man, who is leading the greatest country in the world into Socialism or worse, from becoming our president.

  • David

I lay the whole of our Nations economic problem at the feet of GE and Jack Welsh who came up with the ludicrous plan of sending as many of our US jobs as possible over seas to other nations to improve GE’s bottom line. "Globalization" has done nothing to help the US and has handed other countries the reigns to our economy and future. The "news" that GE may have provided high tech aid to terrorist is just another star in GE’s globalization plans if it’s true. I would not be shocked by the news if it was true. It’s time for GE and other US based companies to get back to the business of being an asset to The United States and not to being "Globalized". A business that profits at the degradation of the community it serves will never stand long even in the short term gains on it’s balance books and stocks is spectacular. If GE was a company of high morals and community fervor, and had policies that consistently supported America in every way the FoxNews story would have been laughed out of existence. The fact that GE has to respond in this manor says it all.

  • Steve Smithe

I appauld GE for actually allowing some of these comments on their website. If only MSNBC could be just as "fair and balanced" as the GE website, MSNBC’s ratings would increase. Olbermann can only promote negativity with his "Worst Person in the World" mentality. At least Bill O has both "Pinheads" AND "Patriots" in balanced fashion.

  • Jerry Edens

don’t be a nebbish. There is a reason for investigation

  • dilligaf

Keep up the great work Fox News & Bill O’Reilly! Business should not be mixed with government. GE deserves whatever backlash it receives as a result of this. Thank you Fox News for being right in delivering the truth to the American people!

  • Richard

Hahahaha I laugh at your statement saying Fox news is in a heated rivaly with MSNBC. Hahahahaha All YOUR NBC networks combined cannot hold a light for Fox News.

It has been obvious the Liberal Bias that your networks show on the issues. Aty least Hannity says he is conservative. Your reporters claim to be unabiased. Hahahahahaha I laugh again.

Obvious you were in bed with John McCain during the last Primary. You wanted him because you thought Obama could have the best chance against him. Even Bill Clinton recognized your were in bed with Obama from the start.

As soon as the Primary season was over YOU GE and your Liberal mouthpieces NBC, MSNBC, & CNBC all turned on John McCain.

Where was FOX dueing all this. The same place they are today. Reporting the facts – all the fact whether conservative or liberal.

There is a reason FOX has ratings higher than all your networks combined. Would you care to elaborate why you think that is so????

now that I just read that these comments must be approved by the site owner I do not espect them to be published. If they are It will surprise me.

  • Mike Wilson

GE should sue Bill O’Reill; he is a bold faced liar that will keep lying until he is stopped. He has a long history of sexually harassing his employees and reporting lies as factual news stories.

  • mark r

You HAVE to be kidding… GE is not even in the same LEAGUE as Fox News… For starters, MSNBC is not even a serious news program. It is merely a place for whiny lefties to espouse their rants against fmr. President Bush.

But their guy isn’t doing so well so far. Maybe someday GE will actually own a news operation that gives Fox a run for its money. But first it will need to learn how to tell the truth.

And as for a ‘smear’, first Fox has to have actually accused GE of what GE says it did. But so far, I don’t see it.

Good Luck, GE, you are on a fast track to becoming irrelevant. The more you lie about yourself, and prop yourself up, the faster people will stop doing business with you

  • Michael Mariakis

Mr. O’Reiley and Fox News is the only media company that can be trusted. CBS, NBC etc…. are totally biased and cannot be trusted to report fair, balanced and honestly. GE should be ashamed of themselves, especially the CEO. They are so honest they just settled to pay a $50 million fine???

    Michael Mariakis
    Bucks County, PA

  • Joaquin Merri lll

I like Mr. O’reilly, but he’s wrong to report that GE is under suspicion without confirmation or naming a source. The implication is intentional.

Although GE is a big boy, and I’m sure that this is a case of what goes around comes around.

  • Chip

Fox News and MSNBC are in a heated rivalry? Somehow, I can’t see that, especially since more people watch FNC’s daytime programs than MSNBC’s prime time shows!

If you are so sure that Bill O’Reilly was fabricating the story about GE’s sending weapons to our enemies, then sue him and FNC. I tend to believe Mr. O’Reilly, especially in light of GE’s lack of litigation. If Mr. O’Reilly were indeed doing nothing but making stories up, then your legal department would be all over him. Since, however, you have opened a simple web page and not sent legal after him, there must be some truth to the story.

Nice try GE. And thanks for the PCBs in the Hudson that are being dredged today.

  • bu

Sue FOX and let them sue you back. Great, Maybe, it will show that defensive medicine is draining the system.

Immeit should go. He is becoming a tool rather than a perceived leader. I, as of today, will try to buy less GE products.

  • Jan Klein

It is an obvious fact to thinking Americans that Jeffrey IMMELT and the Obama administration are in each others pockets. Immelt would never sue FOX News or others because he does NOT want to enhance the spotlight already focused on his back room dealings and association with the OBAMA administration. In the meantime, IMMELT will continue to gain power and wealth through this unsavory aliance which includes exclusive new energy deals and the like… GE’s name will continue to be muddied as long as Immelt heads the helm.

  • NotAFanOf-Immel

I have been boycotting GE for a couple of years and will continue to as long as Jeffrey R. Immel is the CEO, because YOU were selling items to Iran. Attempting to blame Fox for the wrongs of Immel is a joke, right? When I bought my new washer and dryer, I opted to buy a smaller one, paid more rather then purchasing the GE they had listed for sale. Oven was a GE, now a Maytag and so on and so on.

  • Computer Nerd

First off, I want anyone who reads this to know that I am not a Democrat or a Republican I am a Libertarian. Secondly, I would like to know how much money GE and GE’s CEO contributed to Obama’s campaign. I would also like to know how this affects the script that MSNBC uses every day. I have watch Fox and MSNBC, Fox asks tough questions of both sides, and MSNBC will not. As far as Bill O’Rilley is concerned, I think he had every right to bring up the questions he brought up. The safety of our troops is important and if there is a remote possibility of a company providing our enemies with any help this company should be questioned. Why doesn’t GE simply prove them wrong instead of saying they are innocent.

  • NotAFanOf-Immel

The rivalry between FOX and MSNBC, I thought was boring and got old fast. I use to surf between CNN, FOX and MSNBC, but MSNBC is a joke now, but not because FOX said so, that is my own opinion. The news is to keep us informed and MSNBC is one sided. It doesn’t help that your commentators are calling Americans names either.

  • Daniel

The only reason GE will not sue Fox News and O’Reilly for slander and making false statements is because maybe what O’Reilly is saying is true????????? Time will tell.

  • Brendan

I guess they don’t expect you to actually read the full transcript. O’Reilly is exceedingly careful to explain that his program has no confirmation and is not accusing GE of anything at the present time. The Factor is only trying to bring to light what their sources say is an investigation involving General Electric. GE’s spin on this issue is ridiculous. Judging by this response (and GE’s prior track record selling equipment to our enemies), I’m sad to say I won’t be surprised if these allegations have a lot more truth to them than GE’s letting on.

  • Dusty

MSNBC, in particular, Kieth Olbermann in a childish attempt to boost his ratings, constantly attacks Bill O’reilly and the Fox News channel. I believe it was Kieth Olbermann that made the claim in Playboy magazine that Fox News was worse than Al Queda. He accused Bill O’reilly of inciting violence and encouraging the murder of Dr. Tiller. These are only a few of the many outrageous and utterly false claims made by MSNBC and it’s very poorly informed and politically biased team of "journalists." How can GE defend itself from claims such as this made by Bill O’reilly when they are using shareholders money to do exactly the same thing? How can GE justify countering an "attack" like this from a journalist who beats Keith Olbermann in the ratings by nearly 3 to 4 times every night? If GE was run by smart individuals who cared about making money for their shareholders, it would find people who could actually compete with Fox News and Bill O’reilly, instead of immature (remember the teabagging remarks), un-intelligent people like Kieth Olbermann who are clearly poltically biased liberals propping up the Obama administration. He claims moderation in the political spectrum, but he is clearly a liberal, and lying to his small group of viewers every night at 8pm. Fire Keith Olbermann and find someone to compete with Bill O’reilly. If GE had the integrity to hire someone who isn’t a far left liberal who relies on liberal blogs to do his show, you may actually beat O’reilly in the ratings and hit him where it hurts. However, you can’t do that, because your motive is clear, and exactly what Bill O’reilly reports each night.

  • James

Regardless of opinions related to Bill O’Reilly or Fox News, the reality is that he is an interviewer/commentator and did not report this as hard news – in fact he states he cannot confirm his statement. All of you wannabe attorneys out there with your suggestions about tort law need to take a deep breath and step back from the ledge. GE has larger problems then a 2 minute blurb from Bill O’Reilly!

  • huffington redirect

heard about this post from a friend, but am still in the process of reading the comments. am always looking for inaccuracies from o’reilly/FOX news. can someone tell me where GE’s response is…i realize title is "GE responds to Fox News’s smears," but i don’t actually see a response. instead, the post reads like a complaint for defamation ("knowingly and without foundation damaged the reputation of GE…"). the first comment ("Tort law was invented for this purpose") underscores this.

i have no idea whether there is a basis for legal action, but that is my point. post the basis/rationale for the attack…the evidence that it is unfounded, etc. while i agree that fox news often mischaracterizes the views of msnbc personalities, based on ratings i have seen, blaming rivalry seems a little far fetched. further, i wasn’t aware that ge was anything other than the parent corp. of nbc…e.g., can’t imagine ge exerting control over nbc news and can’t imagine comments by or from nbc being attributed to ge.

when i came here, i expected to read a response that specified GE’s past business dealings, or lack therof, with Maxtream or Corezing. that is, a response based on actual, verifiable facts. instead, there is this silly post that criticizes the lack of evidence without any evidence. at the very least, chose the titles more carefully…for example, "fox news smears again," or something to that effect. don’t title it as a response, since it is not. also, don’t include a transcript that doesn’t jive with the post.

these things are embarrassing for everyone.

  • Richard

I would like to know who the idiot at GE is who felt it was a good idea to open this to general discussion. From what I have read there is a small (very small) group of GE supporters/Bill O’Reilly haters who have given GE any solace on this issue.
The vast majority of comments have been extremely adverse to GE and their leadership. If this is the extent of GE managements’ perception of how they are viewed by the general public (hotly contested ratings war)and their shareholders then it is no wonder they are the laughing stock of the News Media and in dire straights financially.

PS please do not forward my email address to Mr Obama

  • Brent Russell

The real smear has nothing to do with FOX News or Bill O’Reilly. The real smeal has EVERYTHING to do with the crummy leadership and falsehoods put forth by Mr. Inmelt. Mr. Inmelt ONLY cares about himself…he cares nothing about the people that look to him for direction or the individuals that have invested in his Company. Mr. Inmelt, you are crooked, you just paid a huge fine for cooking the books. Our FAMILY and friends refuse to buy any products produced by GE until Mr. Inmelt leaves. Thank goodness for FOX News…at least one organization knows how to tell the truth. GE…Mr. Inmelt…you story is filled with untruths. In case nobody has asked…."I invite you to leave GE, Mr. Inmelt…do so for the well-being of your employees and what was once a GREAT company.

  • michael

What rivalry? There are only about 8 people who watch MSNBC. MSNBC has no credibility. It is all about hating Bush and the right. Have you ever seen them report anything good about Bush or any conservative position? Consider the source.

  • J.M.

    Mr. Immelt..
When FOX and/or Bill O’Reilly voice an opinion about another competitor, it’s all fair in love and war between the networks. Perhaps GE’s Oberman and Mathews PREEMPTED THE CONVERSATION what comes around goes around.

What disturbs me as an investor, GE and MSNBC placed themselves in an unattainable situation; Immelt must realize politics in is in constituent (fluid) flow. What’s in today is out the next and the way this president and congress are maneuvering the Nation into the void created when China and Russia vacated socialism is not wearing well with the constituents (voters) .

Immelt would best serve investors by refocusing MSNBC into the middle and move away from the Polosi’s of the world. America is facing the beginnings of a revolt against the way politics is conducted, while GE is moving themselves into a political abyss that MAY (will) back fire when America gets back to being America the old fashion way.

To conclude, even as a BIG GE investor I find it unbearable watching MSNBC voicing the same old, same old leftist point of view.

  • Richard Schroeder

I saw the Fox show in question, and frankly it was my last one. Bill O’Reilly has gotten a little to big-headed and this was so far over the top it makes the pathetic journalism exhibited by MSNBC look good in comparison. At this point I have gravitated to reading my weekly Barron’s and selective news off the internet. Perhaps all this is just helping the BBC emerge as fair and balanced reporting? (I’ll give them BBC a test drive for a month before I go into total seclusion.) As for Jeff Immelt, I don’t want his job and remain a solid admirer of his corporate direction (but a little less effort sucking up to the left would be in order).

  • George Chicras

    Bill is right.

  • Darrin

Bill O’reilly reporting half truths and reporting dotted lines as connected ones??? Really, what a shock. It’s only a shame that Americans are not informed enough to turn garbage like that off. In a country where most people don’t know what the Bill of Rights is or think that death panels are real, I guess O’Reilly will be around as long as he wants until the people really "wise up".

  • Mike

GE better hope that there is no link to the technology used to attack US troops. At this point, I believe Fox news before GE and its corporate subsideraries.

  • dave

    I read the transcsript.
O’Reilly did NOT say outright, that GE is involved in IED switches.
He reported that sources have told Fox News that GE is involved, but he told his audience he could not confirm nor deny that report.

He also made it quite clear at the end of the Talking Points memo; Nobody is being accused of anything.

GE ought to re-read the Talking Points memo again befroe speaking out. The memo is quite clear.

You know what they say about those that protest too much?

GE needs to take a lesson from that.

  • Darrin

If you can’t confirm a story you should not report it. Is that not journalism 101?? Is that not what Mr. AKA Bill O’reilly screams every night that people are doing against Sarah Palin with the divorce story etc.? I feel that I’m in the bizarro world where facts don’t matter anymore and hypocrites who continously tell one side of the story rule the day. Only in America could a so called "traditionalist" who had to pay millions to cover up his sexual harrassment of a producer have so many blind followers. What a sad day for America.

  • J.M.

Honestly, I don’t believe this discourse with Immelt and GE is a direct result with O’Reilly and Fox. Rather discontent with the management of GE, the price (valuation) of GE, the disrespect GE gets from the analyst’s covering it and above all MSNBC siding with a White House and those in the Capitol taking a salary while ignoring the people they represent. After watching the road house shows staring our leaders I sense they think we’re nothing but low class citizens without ability to rationalize right from wrong and in dire need of their guidance. Come Nov. 2010 a rude awaking will enlighten them to reality, I can’t wait for 2012 for the big awakening.

  • Matt

I love how O’Reilly’s audience (AKA the lowest common denominator) has flooded this comments page with mind-numbing talking points. To come on here and actually state that an American company is killing American soldiers is absurd. Allow me to introduce common sense into your lives for a brief moment (don’t worry, I’m certain it will soon return to the ignorance-is-bliss coma): Do you really think that O’Reilly has such an extensive and talented investigative journalist squad that they magically uncover these supposed "ongoing investigations" and other GE improprieties before, say, EVERY CREDIBLE NEWSPAPER IN THE COUNTRY? Please. The only prescription for Fox News advocates is a year’s subscription to a newspaper and a thorough head examination. You’re being duped by a self-promoting (exemplified by shameless plugs for his books and charitable donations) hypocrite (sexual harassment "settlement"… thanks for the holier-than-thou books though, Bill). GE isn’t perfect, Newscorp isn’t perfect. Neither are any of us as individuals. That’s the way world is. Next point: the argument that Fox News is a superior network because it has higher ratings than CNN and MSNBC signifies terminal idiocy. Hate to say it, Fox’s audience is made up of lazy, uneducated Americans (roughly 50% of the population, unfortunately) who are unable to to register an independent thought, instead glibly believing every word that comes out of the mouth of people who look and sound just like them… like the intellectually-devoid Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. Instead of contempt, I feel sorry for these people and their children. The other half of Fox News viewers are people who tune in merely to watch the train-wreck circus. Look in the mirror, Fox News viewers, and ask yourselves "Am I actually an informed citizen? Or do I blindly read/listen to outlets that support my current views and biases?" We all have our own set of predispositions, but before you come on here and repeat Bill’s talking points memo, have some personal pride and do some independent research. No one will take you seriously otherwise.

  • Lavarock

MSNBC a rival of Fox News? Ha! I laugh in GE’s face!
NBC and CNBC has been in decline for many years, very biased and un-trustworthy reporting. On balance, Fox News and Bill O’Reilly, rule in the ratings, and have infinitely more credibility than do the pathetic goons responsible for GE’s. Bill is someone we trust to look out for the folks. Just tune-out CNBC/NBC,MSNBC(hate mongers)as they are only in the pocket for Obama and GE. What did GE do with $148B that they got for Obama, as a quite bail-out? What bothers me is Immelt has taken a company and destroyed it and he still has a job!
Who Do You ‘Trust ‘ G E or Mr. Bill O’Reilly?
I For One only ‘Trust ‘ "The Great American" Mr. Bill O’Reilly!
GE is NOT an American Company and Jeff Immelt needs to go to jail. Bill has invited Imelt to his program, but he will not go! This, to me, speaks volumes, so, put-up or shout-up GE.

  • Darrin

By the way I’m a reporter now. My sources can neither confirm or deny that Bill O’relly is a hypocrite, sexual harrasser and deviant. However, I want to be clear I’m not accusing anyone of anything. Where is my Pulitzer???? Maybe since I’m not part of the media elite I won’t get it. Or is it because I’m known for having loose facts and telling one side of the story??

  • Rich

It’s about GE stands up to the Fox Noise nonsense. It’s no surprise that they have decent ratings. There is only one place where can go to get what they want to hear spoon-fed to them. The create a nwes story and then report on it as if it’s real. ratings does not equate to journalism. Most people know this and with his tabloid television background, it’s more of the same for the incompetent blowhard O’Reilly. It’s refreshing to insert some reality into Fox’s fantasy world.

  • joey

If GE weren’t corrupt in so many ways, no one would even begin to believe such an awful accusation.
However ……… since they are so corrupt, "ye reap whay ye sow".

  • Frank

I have never watched MSNBC and never will. The ONLY national news outlet I ever watch is FOX. Although O’Reilly is quite cocky he does try to be fair and balanced, in fact he leans too far left to suit me most of the time. I wouldn’t believe GE even if their spokespersons denied the accusations. They probably don’t even truly know where their products end up and really don’t care. I will never buy another GE product, in light of their totally biased media. NBC programming doesn’t even account for but about 10% of my televison viewing. They apparently spend all their attention to entertainment on their news instead of their programming!

  • Arthur

I agree 100% with GE on this matter. It seems to
me that it is a personal problem that O’Reilly has
with GE, he always seems to attack them without any
    provocation on their part
I would not blame GE for suing Fox News and O’Reilly
    for defamation of character.
I know people who work for GE and are are decent
hard working people who have a family to support
and people like him are making it harder than it
    should be.
He needs to back off and leave GE alone they have
been an American company for many years and have
    provided jobs for many.

  • J.M.

I had a good day trading stocks in a down market and wanted to end my happiness with myself so I clicked to MSNBC from CNBC only to find one David Schuster and Chris Matthew’s. Needless to add, my regurgitating is still in progress; O’Reilly is right about GE, just pondering the thought to delete MSNBC from my remote.

GE is one PATHETIC EXCUSE in the name of broadcasting.

  • David Engel

I’m extremely sorry that GE has fallen on hard times, but it seems to be the fault of the people who are running the company and not the fault of Bill O’Reilly or Fox News. I teach public speaking at a community college and used to consider myself a "Democrat with recessive Republican genes." I became a Republican to support John McCain in the Iowa Caucuses last year. In class, I am always encouraging my students to look at all sides of an issue before making up their minds, but it is getting harder and harder to find "news" organizations that will explain all sides of an issue. This saddens me. Where are the great news organizations of the past? ABC, CBS and NBC used to have great news anchors who could give us the news without slanting it. What happened to journalism? It seems that FOX is the only news organization that even attempts to be unbiased, although occasionally CNN does a nice job. Although FOX is often more to the right of center, it is obvious the American people are watching FOX and O’Reilly more and more because they know they will not be spoon-fed leftist propaganda. It is also likely that the guest speakers on both sides will generally be well-informed on the issues. The viewers can decide for themselves. They will see and hear all sides of an issue. MSNBC is good for a laugh, or if you are a serious viewer, finding out what the far-left wants us to believe. Keith Olbermann just rants and raves against FOX and Bill without knowing, or giving the facts. Let’s start producing real journalists again. I urge young journalists to search for all sides of a story and report it without prejudice. FOX, keep on doing what you are doing. The American public deserves to hear all sides of every issue.

  • Dusty

GE doesn’t need any help damaging their reputation, they do a very good job of that themselves! I will never buy another GE product as long as I live! GE is corrupt as they get!

  • carmen

so why doesn’t ge sue fox for slander. HAHAHAHA it will never happen cause everything bill said was true

  • carmen

and one more thing…………i just purchased a new front loading washer and dryer and was debating between the ge suggested by consumer reports and the more expensive kenmore brand. because of ge’s business with iran (through other parties) and because they continue to support the far left agenda, i purchased the more expensive kenmore. HAHAHAHAHA take that ge!

  • C J Johnson

I sold every bit of my stock in GE. Imel (sp) who owns GE reportedly admitted that in the past they, indeed, provided materials to that Country. Those of you who hate Fox News and Bill O’Reilly, need to take another look at it. If it weren’t for this news org., we would hear nothing. The Liberal stations, NBC, CBS, MSNBc, etc. are hard left winged liberals and wouldn’t know the facts if they were slapped in the face. No, I can’t prove they did, or didn’t, but I know that if there is any truth to it t all, Mr. O, would not have brought it up. As a member of a family news organization, Fox is right on. Be thankful.

  • Rob

GE’s response is inadequate. Roadside bombs are also know as IEDs (improvised explosive devises). IEDs may be constructed out of any available material and contain various fillers, usually explosives. IEDs may range in size from a cigarette pack or carton to a large vehicle. The only limitations an enemy bomber faces are: availability of resources, personal ingenuity, and degree of extent of "know how" required to facilitate construction and in some case application of a IED. IEDs are non-standard, and usually fabricated from common materials.
These common materials include anything that contains certain "common components" that can be found in almost everything from kitchen appliances to almost anything you can imagine. I have a great deal of experience in Afghanistan and have found plenty of these objects. GE is a global company and thus their products are in Afghanistan. What I want to know is,.. Did GE purposely provide these products for malicious purposes?
