GE scores twice on Fast Company’s innovators list

GE is in good company, joining Apple, Google, Amazon, Cisco and other firms at the top of Fast Company magazine’s annual ranking of “the world’s most innovative companies.” Not only did GE come in at No. 11, but Hulu, the joint web video venture between our NBC Universal group and Fox, came in at No. 3.

In other news, GE bucked the national employment trend in Schenectady, adding 450 jobs last year in the city, most of them related to expansion of its renewable energy operations.

GE’s Jeff Immelt, in a talk with Canadian business leaders in Toronto, called the current economic climate “a permanent reset,” but said “he’s optimistic” about the U.S. government’s stimulus package.

    Fast Company twice ranking of GE reminds me of another GE double score. It was in 2006 when Fortune Magazine declared GE as America’s and World’s Most Admired Company. You can read my thoughts about this event in my February 23, 2006 post GE won two gold medals.
