GE strengthens rural China healthcare initiative

GE Healthcare recently pledged to launch five new diagnostic imaging products in rural China by 2010. Designed and manufactured in China, these products will help provide innovative and affordable healthcare solutions to regions of the country that account for around 56 percent of the total population.

To support the offering, GE will add 100 engineers to its existing engineering team located in Wuxi, while continuing to leverage technology developed by 3,000 other GE Healthcare engineers worldwide. This global innovation/in-country localization approach helps to tailor breakthrough technology to meet the specific needs of rural populations. Currently, GE Healthcare has seven products for use in rural China.
