Adam Rasheed, a Propulsion technologist at GE’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York will be receiving the 2009 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ Lawrence Sperry Award, for his research in hypersonics, propulsion and notably pulsed detonation, which has the potential to reduce jet engine emissions and fuel consumption.
Adam Rasheed, a Propulsion technologist at GE’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York will be receiving the 2009 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ Lawrence Sperry Award, for his research in hypersonics, propulsion and notably pulsed detonation, which has the potential to reduce jet engine emissions and fuel consumption.
The award is given annually by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and recognizes a young person, age 35 or under, in the field of aeronautics and astronautics. It has been presented annually since 1936, with previous winners including: astronaut Sally Ride in 1984, Apollo program flight director Eugene Kranz in 1967, and Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, who designed the U-2 and SR-71 Blackbird, and received the award in 1937.
