There was a recent article in our local paper that indicated the GE Energy Controls division in Salem, VA would have about 65 openings but I can not find any of these positions on your website or any other career website. My father worked and retired from GE in Salem, VA and I know GE is an outstanding company so I am very interested in these positions. Any idea when the openings will be posted for these postions ?

To those that have applied, please be aware that if the job that you are applying for has posted any “requirements” that your experience/degree does not meet, then your application will never be seen by the hiring manager. HR will not present an application to the hiring manager if all requirements are not met.

This can be unfortunate. E.g., GE would not have hired a ‘Steve Jobs’, nor a ‘Bill Gates’, if the job they had applied for required any sort of college degree.

The hiring manager does have the option of writing the request in such a manner that qualified people could apply if they are careful to craft the position requirements with verbage such as, requires a Masters Degree or equivalent experience.

GE is clearly becoming part of – if not central to – the Green Recovery. The new site is not just stunning, but beautiful.. I am proud of what GE can achieve..

Why no mention of the many shops GE is closing to move jobs to low wage states or the third world?
I know, I know, I’ve reading the posts here. Many of you people seem pretty desperate and seem only to happy to work for 1982 wages.

More needs to be mentioned about Chinas trade violations. First the flooding of the market with below cost solar cell’s .For which they are now having to pay a 31% tariff on their exports of solar panels.
And the most recent trade violation. China restricting the exports of rare earth elements. Companies that move their operations to China have no problem getting these materials for the many products they are used in. But companies in other countries have a harder time getting them. And must pay a higher price. A WTO investigation into this is taking place. But it could be a year before any judgement is made.

go take a trip to wash DC the gov is NOT broke! every single upscale five star restaurant is full. we were eating out due to a vacation but these people eat out EVERY single day I never did see any of the “suits” pay cash it was a credit card! Hmmmm I feel ripped off to say the least. These people do not live like the rest of us and we are too busy working every single day to worry about what is going on in Wash DC but i suggest you go have a look for yourself . It is a real eye opener. GE knows who has the money and will do whatever it takes to get the grants etc from the gov to produce “green jobs” ha what a laugh.
