I’m Thomas Elsenbruch, Marketing Manager for biogas applications with GE’s Jenbacher gas engines. Curbing the greenhouse gas emissions that are contributing to climate change has been an important topic of discussion of late. Just take a look at today’s article in the New York Times.

As mentioned in the article, disposal and treatment of biological waste can be a big challenge. GE has a solution. For a wide range of organic substances from agriculture, foodstuff or feed industries, biogas – a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide generated from such waste – serves as a high-energy, renewable fuel that can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels.

Like the farm in Sterksel, GE’s Jenbacher biogas engines are being used around the world to generate power for many small businesses. In fact, Jenbacher biogas engines are currently providing the power for a chicken farm in Beijing, China, a dairy farm in Punjab, India, and a tomato greenhouse in Ontario, Canada. Perhaps a pig farm could be next!
