UPMC, GE partner on international oncology centers

November 13, 2008

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is collaborating with GE to develop advanced cancer centers in Europe and the Middle East. This effort will provide UPMC’s world-renowned cancer expertise to patients and GE Healthcare’s medical equipment. Twenty-five of these centers are expected to be built in the next 10 years.

With more than 10 million new cases every year, cancer has become one of the world’s most devastating diseases, killing an estimated 20,000 people each day. Our aim is to bring quality care to developing regions of the world to change healthcare delivery from reactive to preventative.
